Author Chéri Vausé

Chéri Vausé is the author of the Noir Mystery Thriller, not your usual mystery or thriller. Noir is a French word for dark, murky, or black, and that is an apt definition for her psychological mysteries exploring the Shadow Archetype developed by the German psychologist, Carl Jung. After teaching theology for more than twenty-five years, she decided to write mysteries, ghost stories, and even science fiction, choosing to leave the overt sexual encounter out, as well as foul language.

"You have to really exercise your writing skills to write dialogue without the use of curse words," Chéri says. "Showing anger, hatred, surprise, or pain employs the use of emotional words and actions that will further the story. The use of curse words is an easy out, an explosive retort with no aim, no drive, no subtlety, or an explanation of intent. They don't show what's going on inside a character's head, and do nothing to elevate the tension. I prefer to make my characters more cerebral, to use intelligent words, to explore psychological motives."

Chéri has written three novels with the small press, GWL Publishing,in the UK, and dove, head-first, into the murky world of psychological terror. You won't find blood and gore in her stories, but shadows that hold an evil presence, a metaphysical terror. She is a member of SMFS and SinC, professional mystery writers groups.

Upcoming are three Novellas, and Lady in the Shadows. Black Monday, is a short story in the anthology, Day of the Dark, published by Wildside Press to be released July 2017.

Chéri Vausé lives on a small ranch in Central Texas with the love of her life, her husband, two dogs, Scully, a Coydog (half beagle and half coyote) and Mulder, a Great Pyrénées, and four ducks, Samantha, Krycek, Monica, and Mr. Fowley, who round out the X-Files brood.
