Ok. So, hi everyone. I decided, since Trump's recent deletion of LGBBTQ+ and black service members from the nation's files is so fucking stupid, that I am going to be doing small tidbits of history about recently deleted files. Enjoy

Doris Miller, a black man a part of the US Navy, was carrying laundry on the USS West Virginia, when he heard multiple explosions. Racing up to the deck, Doris looked out across Pearl Harbor, horrified at what he saw. Dozens of Imperial Japanese planes were dropping bombs and torpedoes on US ships. After realizing the Captain of the USS West Virginia was critically injured, he carried him to a safe place. Then, after being ordered to, he loaded a 0.50 Cal AA gun. But, after no one came to man it, he manned it himself. Doris was not a soldier; he was only a worker at the mess hall. Due to the segregation of the military, black men were not trained for combat roles and served almost exclusively in support roles. However, despite this, he was able to shoot down at least one Japanese plane. After the 0.50 Cal ran out of ammunition, he spent the rest of the attack carrying wounded soldiers to the med bay. For his bravery, he was awarded the Navy Cross and was nominated to get the Medal of Honor. Doris would go on to be a part of multiple propaganda posters, but he would sadly die on the 24th of November on the USS Liscome Bay after a Japanese I-175 submarine launched a torpedo at the ship.
