            Bucky just laughed, ruffling Steve’s hair. He’d been out drinking, for once not flirting with girls— he had eyes only for his Stevie. His best friend, his other half— God, he wanted to kiss him, but he had no idea how Steve would react and it was killing him. “Ain’t,” he retorted, that grin still on his face. “Even if I was, ‘s true. Prettiest blue eyes I ever saw,” he insisted, running a hand through Steve’s hair, then his own, to get it out of his eyes.

            steve lifted his eyebrows up at his best friend, laughing softy and attempting to ignore the way his cheeks and the tips of his ears flushed red. " you're gassed, you big dope, " he attempted to brush off the compliment, absently messing with his best friend's sleeve. he still had a hard time believing the compliments his best friend gave him. he wasn't sure it would ever change.
