Last year during Mother’s Day, there was a genocide happening. And today, on Mother’s Day, there is STILL a genocide happening. So while you tell your mothers, grandmothers, mother figures, etc, how much you appreciate them. Don’t forget about the mothers around the world who are suffering because they deserve to know that they are just as special and just as cared for. 

I keep seeing people talking about the met gala, and I really don’t understand why. There are multiple genocides going on right now. Why are we still focusing our attention on celebrity events? What’s happening in Palestine has not gone away. What’s happening in Sudan has not gone away. What’s  happening in Congo and Kurdistan HAS NOT GONE AWAY. 
          
          The met gala happens every damn year, but the chance to amplify the voices of innocents and bring awareness to injustice is not something that happens often. People stop caring. Because of events like the met gala. And when we stop caring, we stop paying attention, and the injustice gets worse. 
          
          Just because you stop paying attention doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. And what happens when you stop paying attention is exactly what’s happening in Palestine.
