for the love of god. i have to keep posting about this because it literally blows my mind how frankly fucking SHALLOW some people can be. BLUE LIVES AREN’T A GODDAMN THING. ACAB IS NOT ABOUT YOU OR YOUR RELATIVES WHO “NEED YOUR SUPPORT/PROTECTION”. 
          
          ACAB doesn't mean that EVERY police officer as an individual person is nasty, sadistic, dishonest, and so on. it means that EVERY police officer is BOUNDED by their job as an agent of the state. and this NECESSITATES cops to act like “bastards” - whether or not they want to. a cop goes to work as a cop, not as an individual. they cease to be your dad, your uncle, your friend, etc. and become anonymous law enforcement officer 24601. ACAB means that no matter how nice a person the cop is individually: they must break riots, strikes, protests, attack social movements, execute homophobic, sexist, and racist laws, deport and evict people, even torture and murder: because that‘s what police fucking do. if a cop was to make a conscientious objection to these actions, they‘d be fired. 
          
          ACAB IS A COMMENT ON THE INSTITUTIONAL ROLE OF THE POLICE. it is FAR from being a personal insult: it’s focusing on the cop as a JOB. BUT none of this is to say that some police officers aren't personally obnoxious, corrupt, and vindictive. MANY CERTAINLY ARE. power corrupts, it makes certain people snide, grasping, egotistical and prone to being violent. and because power attracts the power-hungry, scum rise to the top. aka FUCK TRUMP.
          
          in fact, the phrase “one bad apple rots the barrel” couldn't be more wrong about ACAB. the truth is that “one bad barrel rots the apples”. (cont. in comments).

(cont.) the police are an unaccountable power given to one group of people over another: they use force and violence to maintain the current social order (the state, capitalism, patriarchy, and all that other fantastic stuff) yet still have the audacity to question why there are those who are now using it in return. FRANKLY, PEOPLE ARE LEARNING FROM THEM. THEY ARE LEARNING HOW TO LOOT AND DESTROY FROM THE WHITE SUPREMACISTS WHO STOLE THIS COUNTRY AND ARE KILLING EVERYONE IN IT.
            
            the point to take here is that we’re focusing on systems that ARE INHERENTLY CORRUPT: not personalities. when you understand this, you’ll stop believing that we just need 'better politicians', 'better bosses, 'better police officers' etc. or that “we should just get rid of them entirely” (“don’t call the police if you don’t want their help” holy sh!t, that one boils me up to the core).
            
            THAT IS NOT WHAT WE WANT.
            WE WANT SYSTEMIC CHANGE.
            
            so, if you respond to ACAB with “not all cops are bad people” or “blue lives matter”— it doesn't actually make sense. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT, and that's not the point.
