What's happening in Afghanistan:
          	(current status)
The Taliban gained control of regional capital Zaranj on August 6th and in the past 11 days, their advance has accelerated across the country. They have taken all over major border crossings and cities, including Afghanistan's capital,Kabul and the Presidential Palace. President Ashraf Ghani left the country and Former President Hamid Karzai is in contact with the Taliban with a view to bringing peace to the country, he says. US embassy stuff were evacuated and thousands of people are stuck at the Kabul airport desperately trying to flee. Hundreds of thousands of people have already been internally displaced as they fled from rural areas. They are camped out in parks and public spaces. Residents of Kabul are withdrawing their savings from banks and shops are closed.
          	(What does this mean?)
While we don't know what's to come, we do know that the Taliban are known for their hard-line Islamist rule called Sharia law and have a history of oppressing woman and girls, banning them from employment, education, forcing them to wear a full burqa, and more.
