The absolute feeling of helplessness as a violent surge of power impulses radiate throughout the inner world of Ichigo Kurosaki, signaling the shift in control. In fact, this was probably what had caused the world to be drenched in this unending ocean that now devoured Ichigo's soul. This was his despair manifested.

An interesting phrasing. It seemed that the entity known simply as the hollow within didn't want Ichigo to become this unstable any more than Zangetsu would have, or Ichigo himself. In fact, it was apparent in his tone, which was different from normal. Like that of a teacher, a mentor. Or even a comrade, rather than that of a predator stalking its prey. It seemed he most certainly had a purpose for appearing before Ichigo, and it was a purpose they both shared mutually.
