@TraversingtheDark Definitely! I've found writing twitter to be a great resource in the past :D I need to brush my account off ahaha I got a bit addicted and decided to leave it be for a while and never got back to itXD

Threads is what sprung up when microsoft saw what Elon Musk was doing to twitter. I haven't tried it myself but my understanding is it's microsoft's version, basically? I've seen some other people seem to like it!

Just entered Callisto into the Watty's this year. Figured it was my time to throw it into the ring!

I've finally got it to a place where it's edited and better meets the vision I had for the story when I started writing it way back a year and a half ago. Thanks to everyone for your comments, support, and suggestions on the story. It means a lot.

RIP Cormac McCarthy.

A writer for whom the word versatility was custom made.

No country for old men, Blood Meridian, The Road.

All completely different books in terms of subject and genre, but all equally compelling.

The world has lost one of the great American writers today.

@pauljohnnelson Completely agreed. I forgot all about The Crossing. Shame on me!

My favourite is The Crossing. It’s about loss and searching and bit by bit finding only to lose it all and even more. It’s like a prophecy disintegrating into an empty future.
I do hope that he had some manuscripts of unpublished works kicking around. But still…I’m sick that he’s gone.

Batch chapter release for Callisto - "Dune Runner", "Fear to Tread", "A Word Most Useful" and "For my Gods and People"

These signal the end of my 'content' additions to the edited version of the book. The opening of Callisto now features both the singular pov of Rain-Born and Jespar before they meet each other, and centers on the culture of the Hanakh people before Rain-Born sets out on her quest.

Its my hope that this more gradual start better sets up Rain-Born as a character as well as the major themes I explore through her (and her cheekly lil companion's) journey through The Deadlands.

Any comments on how this new opening arc fits with the rest of the story are intensely appreciated.

With the onset of Pride Month, I would like to wish everyone celebrating well and take a moment to say, as I've stated before, that more diverse voices especially in the realms of fantasy/science fiction equals a net boon for the genres, their readers, and writers.

I'd also encourage anyone to experiment with perspectives that are not your own. Writing is not only fun, but also an exercise capable of building empathy. Never be afraid to step into the shoes of another, and attempt seriously to research, converse, and build an understanding of how life presents itself to the humans you share this planet with.

Difference does not create division. Rather, it is our greatest trait as a species.

Continuing the early development of Rain-Born and of the Hanakh, this chapter of Callisto explores the important role storytelling plays in their culture - something just as vital to life as fighting against the beasts of the Deadlands, and something the young huntress must learn if she is to carry the destiny of her people with her:
