After some 15 years of work, I finally finished my second novel: Rube.

          	Yeah... it feels pretty good.

@avadel Thank you very much. I might just hit you guys up for a proofread, once I get done with the editing. But that will probably take another 15 years to get done... ;)

When was the last time you have read the funniest opening chapter in the history of literature? Would you believe it took me 3 years to write the first page? What a pandora box I have opened up. I couldn't stop laughing. If you have a sense of humour, put on a seat belt and get ready for the ride of your life. Check Superpower. Read enjoy and follow. I will do the same for you

Hey! How're things? I hope you're doing well :)

TigerBlam

@Ch31L92 Yeah, about the star... I haven't really told anyone this, but the Wattpad admins has been doing some nefarious business behind the scenes which I'm very unhappy with. They're politicizing the platform more and more and are pushing their extremist views onto their users, which I do not want to be a part of. So when they demanded that all stars had to sign some political documents, I quietly refused and was kicked out of the program.

Losing the star is not a big deal to me, as I didn't really get anything out of it anyway. But it's sad to see the platform turning into some kind of propaganda machine where everyone who disagrees are kicked out.

Safe to say I've pretty much fallen out of love with Wattpad and will probably start to look around for alternatives in the not too distant future. I still enjoy the basic publishing features and how it's all set up around chapters which can be added one at a time, so I will keep using it for a while longer. But the things I saw behind the scenes was quite scary to be honest, and the whole platform seems to be going down a hole.

So if you would like to recommend any alternatives, I'm all ears =)

@TorgeirBlok Hey! Nice of you to reply :)

I'm glad things are going well. Hopefully, they will stay that way. Also, it's great to hear you're getting back into writing. Remember to go at your own pace, no matter how long that takes until you're satisfied.

My summer has not long begun, finally! :D Well, I can't say summer when it's always raining, but that's the UK for you, haha. Now Covid has calmed down and work has resumed I don't get much time to write, so at the moment, I'm enjoying loss time with family.

And I've just noticed your little star has disappeared? A lot has changed, huh?

@Ch31L92 Hey there! So nice of you to get in touch =)

I'm good. Been enjoying the summer a lot lately, with family, friends and BBQ. Also got a bunch of writing done, but I found out I had to rewrite a lot of Rube and have made two whole new chapters that will be added in the middle of it all. So that also required me to make a bunch of changes in other chapters too, but I'm slowly getting there and coming close to finally publishing some of it again.

But how are you? Got some writing done yourself? Hope you're having a nice summer too =)

Wattpad has decided to remove three chapters from my essay about snuff movies, claiming that it broke their guidelines.

I do not agree with this decision. As the story in question was a journalistic work that stated well documented facts in true crime stories, taking out these parts comes off as a rather strange act to censor real life events. It is especially odd that one of the deleted chapters explained actual laws, without being any more graphic than stating the regulations and possible sentences for watching off-the-shelf movies that are no more real than Star Wars.

Though my story did also feature some rather brutal scenes, that was also very much the point in an essay that asked why anyone would want to seek out these images in the first place. I wish Wattpad had contacted me to discuss this beforehand, so that I would have had a chance to rephrase or somehow alter the aggrieving parts, instead of just deleting them without any warning or even be notified of a complaint. However, since removing chapters from the middle of a story naturally destroys the whole piece, I have decided to unpublish the work from the platform, as it would otherwise be without merit and utterly unreadable.

To me, censoring a horror story for being too brutal, is the same as censoring a comedy for being too funny, which is why censorship will always be endlessly scarier than any mere words. If you can be told what to read and write, it follows that you can be told what to think and feel. This is truly dangerous, and not even in a fictional way.

@TorgeirBlok Yes, that's why it's a shame. All the hard work just to get snatched away. One of the reasons I stopped publishing any of my own work. Just keep an eye out for Worn Skin.

It's great to see you're in good spirits! I love moving house but hate the unpacking part lol. Don't worry about Rube. I'll be there when you're ready :)

@Ch31L92 Thank you for your comment. I think you might be one of the rather few that read the thing and actually got to know what it was about.

            But oh well...

Other than this unfortunate event, I am very good. Just moved to a new house and spending all days putting together IKEA furniture, which means I haven't had much time to write lately. But I hope to get back to Rube again soon =)

@TorgeirBlok - I'm sorry to hear that! I'm also surprised they did so without any indication of removing the content. Again, with you being a Wattpad Star, you would think they would at least notify you or give you the chance of alteration.

What's horror without those elements? Such a shame. Anyway, I hope you're well!

I just finished publishing the last part of a short story about snuff movies (meaning films that feature real life murder.) It's a rather short piece detailing my own personal journey into the abyss, which will take you less than 30 minutes to read. But seeing as it is all true, it is not for the faint of heart and will probably be the darkest thing I will ever write. So take the plunge at your own risk:

Do you love horror movies about freaky cults? What a coincidence! Because that's actually the subject of a Youtube video I made recently. Check it out and let me know how many of these you have seen:

@StrangeMcWeird Yeah, Rosemary's still holds up really well, which is a big testament to the Polanski's awesome direction. As far as Children of the Corn goes.... I gotta say that it hasn't aged all that well... but it still has a fun and campy vibe to it =)

Thanks for checking out the video!

@ellygetinmybelly Thank you very much! I hope you enjoy the ride. I can't take credit for the cover but thought it was perfectly fitting to the story, as I'm sure you're about to find out :)
