I've always enjoyed writing. It's my way of letting my imagination, thoughts and opinions escape from my head and let it take their tangible form on paper. Poetry was my launchpad and I love it. To me poetry is like a bottle that can keep a portion of life. Later on, I took on the challenge of writing short stories, teen romance in particular. I wrote these manuscripts, had them hardbound; took them to school for friends and classmates to read; with a few blank pages at the back for comments and opinions.

Then, I found the opportunity to write for a local publishing company that catered to the masses who enjoyed and appreciated the genre of Romance. It was a challenge because writing in the local tongue, Tagalog, was somewhat difficult for someone who learned English first. I submitted four manuscripts and got paid for it. It wasn't much, but for a student, it was good. Three of the manuscripts, I have seen published. The fourth, I am unsure. After leaving the country, I didn't get to monitor its progress. Sad irony for a published author, I don't have a single copy of my works. That's what happens when a thieving housekeeper helps you pack. Tried to obtain a copy, but in the Philippines, they only print a certain number of copies then archived. I have no idea how the archiving system works--stuff them in a box and shoved in the ceiling perhaps.

Since writing my 4th manuscript, my pen took a break. Call it writer's block, lack of inspiration or ideas. Skill got very rusty after a 12-year hiatus. So during those years of slumber, my skill hasn't grown up. What you will see would probably be the writing style of someone in high school.

But my pen is awake. It's time for us to grow up.
