I lowkey think that monthly subscription services when it comes to authors is a bit of a detriment.

I pay £11 a month for one author who offers something like 11 stories, some already completed, and I feel myself only enjoying 4 or 5 of the 11.

I only read the others because I’m paying so much, but if it wasn’t for the books that I enjoy, I would have left.

Also the one I do enjoy don’t get updated as much as the ones I don’t enjoy. And I would t be mad at that if I wasn’t paying for this service.

Some of these authors who move to subscription style platforms really forget how to act once they get that money. Why are you charging £15 for you to only update twice a month?
          Rip off merchants

Who and how do they do it? I’d love to move to a different platform, where people can subscribe because I write a lot lol.

The chokehold that racism has on the bwwm writing community is unreal. Why is it so hard to find a well-written interracial book?
And the ones with the worst racism are written by women! Y'all really act like this in real life?

And the thing that sucks I want to have this discourse but I feel like Wattpad isn’t the place for that because people will be biased.

I will say this though, the actually talented authors on this app get penalised a lot whether it’s low interaction or jealous people reporting their work

@TheBlkBae I've noticed that with a lot of books on here and not just the bwwm ones. It feels like I would have to write horribly to get the votes and comments (as well as write what the people want but that's another rant) but I just can't do it lol

@TheBlkBae Definitely agree with you on that!

I don’t know what it is about Wattpad but I would rather pay for a book via Kindle or Apple than put my hard earned cold cash into this app.

TheBlkBae

@elcid423 Well with the way that this app has been going downhill since they introduced the ads, I'd rather go broke than but any cash into Wattpad

@TheBlkBae why do you say that??

Has anyone else been finding themselves moving away from Wattpad in regards to finding new books?
Like the only reason I’m here is to read the books of the authors who’s content I enjoy and that it.
I’m going elsewhere for new books

@TheBlkBae yeah at this point I’m getting into manhuas more cause there’s barely anything for me to read on here that’s good, unique and diverse. I write my own stories that I publish on a weekly basis, but even the author needs a moment to read something decent. It’s crazy. Same storylines, plot devices, and simple-minded characters :(

If the rumors are true, and all mature content will be removed from this site, where is everyone moving to? I need to know what accounts I need to set up.

Mrs_Manhunter_Jonzz

@TheBlkBae lol I will admit that it took me a while to get used to AO3

@Mrs_Manhunter_Jonzz I’ve got Inkitt, read a few books on there and I don’t mind the app setup.
I can’t do AO3 though. That site hurts my head

@TheBlkBae AO3 allows Mature content. The problem is that... well, there's no forum and nothing to post your conversations. There is another site but you have to be 18+ to join. I was on Inkitt for a while but left; can't remember why aside from the whole no readers thing.
