Mike started this book in 2008, but made very little progress until 2013, when a visit to the Lascaux Caves in France inspired him to think about ancient people.  Realizing this element could be added to the world he had already created encouraged him to begin again.  Three years later, the story was finally finished.  The caves in France are an incredible example of just how complex primitive humans were.  Although the rock paintings were not done by Neanderthals, Europe was home to some of the last populations of Neanderthals that may have mixed with Homo Sapiens.
