I've been watching a lot of pandemic and apocalyptic movies during my social distancing time and I've found a truly enlightening exercise you should all try:

First, name all the post-apocalyptic/pandemic movies you can think of. Zombie movies, pandemic movies, end of the world movies, etc.

Next, see how many of those actually have a female character who has any survival skills AT ALL.

I come up at around 1 or 2 movies. Like WTF, can the movie industry not have A SINGLE apocalyptic movie with a strong female lead? I just want to see ONE movie where the girl is trying to save her boyfriend instead of the other way around. JUST. ONE.

I am the definition of a reading hypocrite. I criticize all these generic carbon copy books, but then I still end up obsessively reading books titled in the format "[provocative verb]ing the [sexy adj.] boy/king/prince" instead of actual quality content.

I hate it when books have the phrase "[enter MC's name] isn't like other girls..." in their description. Like, if you're going to have the 'not like other girls' cliche at least TRY to hide it. Don't just outright tell me.

But I love a good cliche

Thank you SO much for reading Runners! I can't thank you enough for spending your time with my ragtag cast of characters and for leaving such a kind comment! (and that's my complaint too LOL!) Hopefully Book 2 (whenever it's finished) will take care of that ;)
