Hi there, my friends call me David. That's not my name though... I don't know why they do that. They just started calling my David...
But I've grown rather fond of the name, so just call me David! And I use any pronouns.

Also, the fish above is called a blue groper, the official fish of New South Wales, the picture's not mine but did see one while snorkelling at Shelly Beach, I saw a female one too, they were both probably eastern blue gropers since Shelly Beach is on the east coast. The fish in the picture is actually a female blue groper which is why it's yellow, not blue, its also considerably smaller than a male blue groper. It's also yellow because it's an eastern blue groper, the female western blue groper is more of a greenish colour. 

Blue gropers are part of the wrasse family but my favourite wrasse is probably the southern maori wrasse, I've also seen one of those while snorkelling, they're very cute. Maori wrasse, like blue gropers are protogynous sequential hermaphrodites, in fact, most of the wrasse family are.  This means that they are all born female but their sex changes as they age.

Fun Fact: Blue gropers are a protected species in New South Wales and killing one can land you a maximum sentence of 6 months or a fine of $22,000 AUD ($15,296.27 USD as of 0337 07/07/26 AEDT) for a first offence.
