A poem for ANZAC day
          
          Lest We Forget
          
          Two armies stood on the Gallipoli shore,
          ANZACs and Turkish at the heat of war,
          The Anzacs were shot and most were killed,
          But still the rest climbed over the rocky hill,
          
          They dug trenches and hid there until dawn came,
          Then the fierce battle had started again,
          Guns were fired and most did not miss,
          But ANZACs fought on in the battle’s hiss,
          When the battle was over, 
          Both sides buried their dead,
          ANZACs and Turkish made a truce instead,
          Until night came and they fought again,
          Many thought it would never end,
          
          
          Thousands of people died on Gallipoli,
          Still we honour their fight for their country,
          Their courage never forgotten,
          Their bravery remembered offen,
          Lest We Forget
