@ShortStory She rehearsed it in the mirror for weeks—every word, every pause. Her mom just hugged her, tight, saying nothing. Then, with a soft smile, she whispered, “You’re ready.” Stepping onto the stage, heart pounding, she saw her mom’s face glowing in the crowd. Suddenly, the speech flowed effortlessly. Each sentence landed with confidence, each emotion rang true. As applause filled the room, she met her mom’s eyes—shimmering with pride. The fear melted away, replaced by quiet triumph. In that moment, she knew: she hadn’t done it alone.

She rehearsed it in the mirror for weeks. Seven words.
She was plucking up the courage to utter them towards someone else than her reflection.
Today would be the day because she did not know whether there would be a tomorrow if not.

She stepped out of the clean light of the bathroom into the cosy hall. Seven big steps and she would be in the kitchen where her mom was standing, clueless of what was about to happen.

            "Honey, is everything ok?"

            It was now or never.

"I am not ok. I need help."

            Her mom just hugged her.

@ShortStory She rehearsed it in the mirror for weeks. Despite knowing that her opponents were capable of defeating her in the competition, she persisted. She wanted to show herself that it didn't matter whether she won or lost. After a week, she stands in front of the mirror, looking at her reflection in the eyes with a look that says, "Yeah, I tried, it’s okay to come second, but next time I'll be the one holding the trophy in first place." Her mother walks slowly towards her and hugs her tightly. The hug speaks for itself, so no words were exchanged.

Hello, Short Storians,

          Does this excerpt intrigue you?

"It began with a smile and a surprise in a garden. Young Princess Mara of the kingdom Ignis sat alone on a swing, wearing a lovely green gown and a frown on her face. With the tip of her foot, she absentmindedly traced patterns in the dirt as she tried to distract herself from the frustration boiling up inside her."
