Sara Browne

Hi, my name is Sahara Browne, I have been writing since I was about 9 years old. My love for writing, I guess came from people that have inspired me over the years, my school teacher being the one that has changed my life. The reason I write is it gives me a voice, it allows me to see a different part of myself that I haven't known to exist.
When I first started writing it was poetry, my love for poetry and how self-expression takes place, for me it was like watching the painter pouring his soul into his canvas. I have been writing for a very long time, when I began writing it was a period of time when great trauma was happening in my teenage years. My grade 11 teacher asked one day after school what was bothering me, and I didn't want to tell her, she said "okay Sahara here is a pen and paper write." My teacher at the time was Maxine Tynes the first African Canadian Author and what she did that day, she saved my life, ever since then I had never put my pen down. That is when I began writing poetry for a number of years.
