@RoyallyKT I'm so glad you love them, I'm always worried about rambling on too much! Needless to say, when Hunter is your favorite Bad Batcher, you tend to notice small details without even thinking about it. Plus, I've re-watched the show several times.
As a tracker, he would have to have great observational skills, and the fact that he has heightened senses must make it easier for him. He can touch dirt/smell it and deduce an entire situation, and that always impresses me. He's very... down-to-earth, shall we say? Sorry... had to whip out my bad puns.
Interesting! I forgot about that, so that definitely supports the electromagnetic theory. It's true that fan-fiction will often take Hunter's senses and blow it way out of proportion; I can't always get behind him being able to feel other people's emotions or even hearing their heartbeats or something, but I do wonder if the show does prove some enhanced hearing. All five senses - including his electromagnetic senses and the potential connection with nature - are helpful but not as extreme as some people make it out to be.
Again, though, his hearing could be slightly enhanced with some proof from the show. For example, when the centipede was about to attack Phee in season 2, Hunter threw his knife at it. Now, the last shot we had of him right before the centipede lifted his stinger... Hunter's back was turned towards Phee, so he could keep a low profile. Unless he has the connection to nature ability going on, I don't see how else he could have known it was there unless he "heard" it. Also, there have been a few times when Hunter realizes a ship is about to fly overhead before it actually does. When that happened in season 3, Batcher barked and Hunter said "I hear it, too." The others didn't hear it until it was directly overhead.
And if it's not enhanced hearing, it has to be, simply put, enhanced "feeling" in general, like "feeling" the environment. But him saying "I hear it, too" is super specific and clear.
