Announcement: I am no longer going by the pen name you've known me by, Alice Hausling. I've decided that if I were to ever pick up one of my books in a bookstore, I'd be much happier seeing my real name rather than a pseudonym. :)

Good afternoon, I'd just like to say I hope you've been doing well. I've never had a full grasp of your situation, but I know it's been a difficult and complicated journey for you. Trying to get better with your condition, my apologies if not the case, but hope in the past year you've gained some relief.

I'm definitely not the best at this, but I still wished to convey the message to the best of my ability.

I absolutely loved your book TRTD, it was one of the few still keeping me on this app. Regardless of whatever becomes of it, whether republished or left stored away for safe keeping, do know that it was absolutely lovely and your writing was and still is appreciated.

that is all :) wishing you all the best

Been a while friends! How's everyone doing? As for me I'm so happy with how I'm progressing on my book. It's my own definition of 'progress' - which isn't one thing, including not JUST actual writing, but many things that all help me with writing the book that my characters deserve. I have no deadlines for myself any longer - one of my favorite authors Amy Hempel sometimes took 6-8 years between her books, but each was more critically acclaimed than the last. I'm not sure it will take me THAT long but I did realize the important thing is writing something I love and think others will love, no matter how long it takes.

I mentioned last time that I was definitely getting surgery on my arms to fix my problems and let's just say that I had a horrible doctor who basically led me on and then kicked me out. Who knows, maybe my arms will continue to be disabled for the rest of my life. I already had to learn to deal with other unrelated severe pain and while it's crushing to imagine adding something else on, I know that someone can also adjust and learn to live with horrible things! I'm kinda a pro at it. :)

Hope all my fellow writing pals are well. By the way, if anyone wants to join my writing discord the door is always open! ❤️

          xx Alice

✨ BIG UPDATE! ✨

Sooo, I am FINALLY getting surgery on my arms! This is to fix cubital tunnel syndrome, which is like the more commonly known carpal tunnel syndrome, except it's an irritation of the ulnar nerve which is your "funny bone". i've been dealing with this since early 2019 and it's just been miserable. It was the biggest reason I stopped writing The Romancing of Tuesday Dennings, it was simply too painful to write.

i'll be getting one arm done at a time obviously, first my left arm which will be for the elbow as well as the wrist. After that recovers, however long that takes, I will get the surgery on my right elbow.

what does this mean for the book? Well, I am going to continue to work on it as much as I can but I am also going to remove the deadline I had set for myself. Life happens and I think it's just really unreasonable to try to push myself to write a book while also dealing with multiple surgeries.

fortunately, things have been going so well. I'm really happy with the direction the book is going and I do feel that I'm going to be able to make progress no matter how small.

i'll keep you guys updated if I have anything big to share but for now, I'm going to focus on my health. While they ARE major surgeries with potential long-term recovery, as well as their own risks, I'm excited for them because hopefully they're going to fix my problems, and I'll have a lifetime of being able to freely write without pain!

          Wish me luck!! ❤️

          xx Alice

✨ December Update ✨

Wow, 2020 is finally over. Anyone have anything they're looking forward to in 2021?

As for TROTD, things are moving along. I'd still love to publish by May but I will probably need the summer for editing. I can't edit as I write anymore, I just gotta complete the manuscript and then polish it.

Still mulling over new titles, I have a few favorites but I won't reveal anything until I know 100% what the new name should be! Might get my husband, who is a graphic designer, to do a new cover as well. But we'll see.

That's it for now! Everyone stay safe and healthy. <3

⭐️ November update ⭐️ it's been slow progress on the book but I do continue to make some progress. I know that next month I'm going to need to buckle down and do better than I did this month, before the weeks fly by and the book deadline is here, and I'm not done. i'm very excited about what I am adding and editing about the story, though, as I've said, and this helps me remain motivated. That's this month's update! :) hope everyone is doing well
