Nadie habría creído en los primeros años del siglo XXI que nuestro mundo estaba siendo observado por inteligencias superiores a la nuestra. Que mientras los hombres se ocupaban de sus diversas preocupaciones, observaban y estudiaban, como un hombre con un microscopio podría observar las criaturas que pululan y se multiplican en una gota de agua. Con infinita complacencia, los hombres iban y venían por el globo, confiados en nuestro imperio sobre este mundo. Sin embargo, al otro lado del abismo del espacio, intelectos,vastos, fríos y antipáticos contemplaron nuestro planeta con ojos envidiosos y, lentos pero seguros, trazaron sus planes contra nosotros.



No one would have believed in the early years of the 21st century that our world was being watched by intelligences superior to our own. That while men busied themselves with their various concerns, they watched and studied, as a man with a microscope might watch the creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. With infinite complacency, men came and went across the globe, confident in our empire over this world. Yet across the abyss of space, vast, cold, and unsympathetic intellects gazed at our planet with envious eyes and slowly but surely plotted against us.
