Wild week, so I didn’t have much time to write or read, but expect more FoA and AoA this weekend!

I did manage to upload an AoA chapter. This one takes our heroes back to the original city of ancient Atlantis, where we dive deeper into the Enunori and revisit an ancient temple many of us have grown to love. And for those wondering, our heroes will be returning to their own time soon. We shall meet the Corporation head on!

          	Come and read!

More chapters to follow over the weekend.

For everyone following the Atlantis series (The Third World Universe), and reading "The Flames of Atlantis," Part 1 of one of the biggest revelations in the entire 5-part saga is now live. And it hits right in the middle of the series, changing everything. I legit cried drafting it. Part 2 will post in the next day or so.

So I've got some news...

Remember how I teased back in December 2024 that I would write my first full novel in the Qadarran series this year? Well, I'm finally doing it.

If you loved the short story "The Bound Heart of Prince Zayd," get ready for an Arabian Nights meets cyberpunk fantasy with a slow-burn romance. And yes… I’m attempting a true slow burn (thanks to my Wattpad friends, you know who you are). If I crash and burn, at least I'll have fun doing it!

Thanks for all your support. You keep my writer heart/inner child alive. ❤️

@missivylynn @RedPetal49 Aw, thank you both! ❤️ Coming from the queens of slow burn novels, that means a lot. I’m lucky to have some great Wattpad folks to teach me and keep me in line if my ship sails too fast. Heh, which is ... a *very real* concern with me...

@ProlixRemedy I’ll leave the slow burn to the characters. As for me, I’m already *in love* with Half-Hooded Glowing Eye Guy. ❤️❤️❤️ Can’t wait!!!

I'm back here to whine like a moody writer. I’m probably just tired from a long work week, but whatever. I’m having this strange aversion to writing more " the Flames of Atlantis" at the moment because my characters are in the middle of one of the darkest arcs in their romantic relationship. And part of me is just like… ah, I can’t feel this right now. Because to put it on paper, on some level, I need to feel it myself.

Sigh. Do any of you struggle with this aspect of your writing?

At the same time, their relationship arc is so intense that I’m like... wow, I can feel how magical this relationship must have been, if it happened somewhere out there in the multiverse.

See note below about banh mi sandwiches. Highlight of my day.

Aw, @RedPetal49, that’s sage advice. Thank you. Your words and a nice late nap in my day (which means I’ll be up all night writing) helped me realize the plot wasn’t going where it should, and that I was having a physical reaction to it. How insane! The body knows before we do. Wild.

You'r right, I do hope to convey the wide range of emotional experiences, sometimes the more painful ones, to really allude to the kind of deep healing humans can offer each other/themselves. Sigh. Aw, Red Petal, thanks again, your words mean a lot!

I like this new Wattpad notification feature where we’re being notified when someone likes our comments. I just wish the notification specified who the like was from, that would really help build community and engagement.

ProlixRemedy

@RedPetal49 Of course, of course. That's exactly what I was talking about. Plot twist: forget the author, your true Wattpad soulmate was that fellow reader all along.

BUT - if we're talking about irl AoT Ander, we all need to follow this account and book. So UHM tell us, tell us. (¬‿¬)

I just finished reading "Swapped Fate" by @rikaaraji468 and wanted to make sure you knew about it too. This is a hidden gem on Wattpad, the first book in a three-part series. Though I’ve only read the first one so far, I have no doubt I’ll read the rest.

The book features two very lovable main characters caught in an intense and sometimes frustrating love/hate relationship. Without giving too much away, Mavis is a headstrong woman who’s grown up in poverty and suddenly finds herself in the home of a wealthy family, where the mother, Madame Felicity, becomes convinced, thanks to a seer, that her younger son, Tristan, will marry Mavis and improve his life for the better.

This kicks off a delicious slow-burn between two unlikely characters who fall for each other while trying not to kill each other. The story also includes engaging elements of fantasy, some rooted in established classic lore (i.e., ogres, orcs, seers, etc.) and others that Rika has uniquely created for her worldbuilding.

And despite all my efforts to dislike her, Madame Felicity is now my favorite character in the book. Again, I don’t want to give away too much, so read it for yourself!

I enjoy Rika’s humor and wit, and this book does not fail to deliver on both fronts. The book is a quick read, and Rika’s writing style is clear, immersive, and to the point. If you’re looking for a historical fantasy with a slow-burn romance, I highly recommend this book.

@rikaaraji468 T’is true. Madame Felicity and I do have a slow-burn going on. It’s so bad, I’m out here making excuses for her complete disregard for personal boundaries! ( ̄ー ̄)

@ProlixRemedy I'm superduper glad you enjoyed it! ^ ^ despite all the frustrating antics of my main quarrelbirds. It seems you and Madam Felicity had a slow-burn love-hate thing going on, too, only it had a way better ending than Mavis and Tristan's ;)

I finally wrote it. That chapter of “the Flames of Atlantis” where Ibris’ dream of having a family starts to materialize. He and Drake finally have that conversation, the one Ibris has been waiting years to have. It’s messy. It’s happy. It’s sad. It’s adorable. But mostly, it’s complicated.

Come for your weekly dose of fluff, angst, and romance… all wrapped up in a science-fantasy world.

(I’m working on an intense AoA chap. So keep an eye out for that soon.)
