After a long and much needed hiatus, Pretty In Punk Book Club is back! The February 2024 Round has just been posted. Hope you've all kept your reviewing skills sharp and are excited to get back into it!

Thank you all so much for your responses regarding interest in Pretty In Punk book club reopening. We have enough interest that we’ll plan to move ahead to begin the rounds in February!
          
          Moving forward, the way the rounds work will be different. For the full rules, check out the updated “How the Club Works” chapter in our club book. For our past members that are familiar with how the rounds worked before, here’s a quick rundown of what’s going to be different that you need to know:
          
          1. Rounds will run for a month rather than two weeks.
          2. Members will be in groups of 4 and read 2 chapters of each group member’s stories each month for a total of 6 chapters.
          3. We will still be having a spotlight story. Members will read 1 chapter of the spotlight story each month.
          4. This is a total of 7 chapters a month, which sounds like a lot, but if you work out what we had previously, that was 8 chapters a month, so it’s actually slightly less.
          
          That’s about it on what’s changing. If all that sounds good and you want to join, please head over to the “Membership Application” chapter of the club book to request an application. If you have previously been a member and would like to rejoin, send us a DM.

          Pretty In Punk has been on a much needed hiatus for a while, but with the new year, we’d like to gauge interest to see if reopening this club is something our members would be interested in.
          
          That said, if you are or have been a member and would be interested in the club reopening and participating in rounds, please send a private message to this account or reply to this announcement. For members in our Discord, if you’ve already replied there, no need to reply here.
          
          If we have enough interest to reopen, rounds will likely start at the beginning of February.

The Pretty in Punk Book Club will be on hiatus through the end of the year effective immediately. We try to provide a welcoming, inclusive environment where if someone is having problems, we try to help to the best of our ability. It saddens us when we find out some of our members would rather run to Reddit to complain, spread lies, and openly use the service we provide despite their hostile feelings toward us than come to us with their concerns. But those people aren't looking for solutions. They just want to complain because they revel in misery. Instead of making themselves look better my improving themselves, they try to make others look worse so they look good by comparison. We have no time or energy for such nonsense.
          
          The founders will meet in November to discuss the future of the club and we will post an update when we have it. We know most of our members support us, and we've built an excellent community both on Wattpad and on Discord. But unfortunately it does only take one or two bad apples to ruin it for everyone.

Hi, friend. I just heard about the hiatus notice on Discord. I am so saddened and angry on your behalf because I think that this is a pretty cool book club for mature writers who want constructive critiques for their stories and find allyship to help them fine-tune their storytelling craft. I may have been a new member for several weeks, but I really like the club because the writers here push each other to be more candid yet encouraging other writers to improve their stories. Whoever is throwing shade about your book clubs on social media is truly conceited and being petty. He/She/They should've come to you about their problems instead of going to Reddit and tarnishing your name. Not cool, friend. Not cool at all.
          
          Anyway, I just had to say my piece on what's going on and let you know that you still have one Punk Book Club member who's sticking around and be the best critique partner. If you need to talk or share some ideas for the future, drop me a line or DM me. Remember, you still have one newbie book-club member that'll be your ride-or-die! Due to an issue with notifications, we'll be unpublishing the current club book and reposting it. Sorry for any bombardment of notifications.

It seems that notifications may be messed up. If you're in our book club and haven't been properly notified, the new round and our new four-year anniversary book have posted! 
          
          If you're not part of PIP and are 21+, we have space for four new members.

Effectively immediately, all Pretty in Punk activities are closed apart from the book club. This means we will not host a NaNoWriMo Support Group this year, all interviews and the Hall of Fame will be removed, and we will not host future Punk Rock Awards. 
          
          If you have a critique pending in our Critique Shop, it will be completed, but we will no longer be accepting new applications.
          
          We did not come to this decision lightly. At the end of the day, we’re tired of trying to build a community that gets criticized no matter what we do. Instead of coming to us with concerns or complaints, people run to the relative anonymous safety of Reddit or squat behind fake accounts. If that’s how people want to spend their energy, that’s their prerogative, but we’re done dealing with it. 
          
          So, we’re putting our focus back to the positive and what matters most to us: creating a book club for our members. It’s where our energy is best served, and where we want to invest our time. We’re still looking for new members, so if you’re looking for honest, solid feedback on your writing, and you’re not a d!ck, we’d love to have you.

August submissions for the Critique Shop are now closed! Plenty of spaces are open for September and the full roster is available in October. If you're looking for solid, honest feedback on your writing, come check us out!  November's schedule will be posted at the end of the month, and will be the last available month for the year! We'll be taking a break in December. So get those submissions in!
