Giving up feels so good. It really does. But when we give up, we only think about the short term effects. Your goal is to run 2 miles but stop at 1.5. It feels good to stop, take a breath, and relax. But in the long run, you'll never reach the endurance of 2 miles. There's a test tomorrow and you're studying, deciding that studying til 12 should be enough. But you want to sleep and you hit the sack at 11:30. It feels good to close your eyes and not have to work hard. But if you utilized those 30 minutes, you could have gotten farther than you did. Giving up feels great. But we don't think about the long term consequences of our actions. What we do in a second feels great for a day or two, but the guilt kicks in. We start wishing we hadn't stopped and kept going. Don't let that happen to you; don't give up.
