Monica’s love of things Regency started when she first read Pride and Prejudice at thirteen. Immediately afterwards, she went through a reading binge of Jane Austen’s novels then discovered Georgette Heyer as well. All good things must come to an end, however, and, as a literature professor, her early interest in Jane Austen was taken over by other writers, though she took to reading Regency romances as her guilty pleasure whenever she got a chance.

Then, in 2005, three things happened. Monica moved to England from the USA, saw the new Pride and Prejudice film adaptation with Matthew Macfadyen, and decided it was time she began to write. Not surprisingly, she turned to the Regency period for inspiration. Her first novel, AN IMPROPER SUITOR, a humorous Regency, was published by the long-established independent press, Robert Hale, and was a runner-up for the Joan Hessayon New Writers award from the Romantic Novelists’ Association.

Two more novels followed quickly after that: THE OTHER MR. DARCY, a Kindle/Regency #1 bestseller + Desert Island Best Pick for 2009 from All About Romance, and THE DARCY COUSINS, both published by Robert Hale in England and Sourcebooks in the USA. Monica’s next novel, STEAMPUNK DARCY, takes JA spin-offs in an entirely different direction. It reached #4 on the Kindle/Steampunk bestselling list. Set in a pseudo-Victorian future, it is a post-apocalyptic novel featuring a descendent of William Darcy and a comic play on the characters of Pride and Prejudice.

Monica is a member of the blog Austen Variations along with eighteen other authors who also write Jane Austen adaptations. She is a member of the team writing the popular Reader’s Choice serial THE DARCY BROTHERS featuring the charismatic Theo Darcy.

MR. DARCY'S PLEDGE, is her most traditional Pride and Prejudice variation to date.

Monica lives in Surrey within the Greater London area and loves visiting historical properties when it isn’t raining.
