I've been a professional writer for over twenty years but only non-fiction and marketing communications until recently. I've been through traditional publishing with eight how-to books published on things like business and design.
In the last year I made a shift and wrote my first novel, The Rememberers, which I'll be posting here. It will be out as an ebook next month (September 2013) on Kindle and iBooks. The Rememberers has a bit of magic realism but the themes are the unreliability of memory and the tendency to avoid risks as one gets older. It's definitely not YA, there's sex, a bit of a drug thing and my audience is probably a bit older. I was going for a sense of mystery and I think I got there. I had fun writing it and watching it go places I never would have seen coming,
I have a good start on a new novel (not a sequel though I will probably be doing one eventually) called The Arrowsmith's Daughter, which deals with the global street art scene and Buddhism. It starts in Paris- we'll see where it goes from there!
I write most days and my typical word count is around 800. I don't usually spend more than an hour writing.
I live in Rochester, NY, right across the water from Toronto and I'm single and quite OK with that.
