Aristole and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz is a spectacular book. It is a boyxboy or Gay book with lots of pride i just finished reading it and am not disappointed I have never felt as close to a character before the description Benjamin Alire Saenz used had been written down like this:
Dante can swim. Ari can't. Dante is articulate and self-assured. Ari has a hard time with words and suffers from self-doubt. Dante gets lost in poetry and art. Ari gets lost in thoughts of his older brother who is in prison. Dante is fair skinned. Ari's features are much darker. It seems that a boy like Dante, with his open and unique perspective on life, would be the last person to break down the walls that Ari has built around himself. But against all odds, when Ari and Dante meet, they develop a special bond that will teach them the most important truths of their lives, and help define the people they want to be. But there are big hurdles in their way, and only by believing in each other and the power of friendship can Ari and Dante emerge stronger on the other side.

That is how Benjamin Alire Saenz , the writer described his book. its a perfect description it doesn't give away to much and makes you want to know what the book is about. Sometimes the book is a little funny but most of the time describing this edge boy named Aristotle Mendoza. When it is funny it is often when Dante has his little war against shoes. It is a prideful book tells the tale of the life of Aristotle Mendoza and Dante Quintana. Each day something always happens for the better or the worst. These two boys are from El Paso, Texas in 1987 so you get to learn what it's like to live back then
