Mary walked in to the room slowly, taking in her surroundings. Peggy by her side as she looked forward and saw the tall, lanky man in front of her. He smiled at her genuinely, extending his hand to shake hers. "Thank you for the time, Nurse Rogers."

"Barnes.. Please." Mary said quietly, she was intimidated by the man in front of her, his eyes looked as if they had seen dozens of lifetimes before them. "My husband was a part of the hundred and fourth infantry then later a part of the Howling Commandos."

"Of course. You are the famed sister of Captain Rogers though, are you not?" The man asked.

"I am." Mary nodded, having just lost both of the beloved men in her life, hearing about them in the past tense was incredibly hard for her. She paused when she felt Peggy's hand on her shoulder for comfort. "Your works also helped end the war. Without your works, my brother and husband's efforts would not have made a difference perhaps."

"I suppose that is true, but i was merely a helping hand."

"You lead the Manhattan Project, Doctor Oppenheimer." Mary says, looking up at the famed man before her. "That is no small feat."

Robert bowed his head and shook it slowly, his hands clasped behind his back, "No. It is not, you are correct about that. I merely served my country just as you and your family have." He says calmly though Mary could tell he wasn't fond of talking about his achievement. "Now we must live with the decisions made during the war. The consequences and the achievements."

          	"Do you?" Mary asks curiously.

          	"Every day, Nurse Barnes."

(I always wondered if Mary had been able to meet Oppenheimer. To me it would make sense that she did. So i came up with this on the spot)

I know it’s been a while since you update, but I was rewatching Band of Brothers the other day and when I got to episode nine titled “Why We Fight,” a thought came to mind when the paratroopers liberated the concentration camp they found. What if Mary, Steve, Bucky, Peggy, and the rest of the Howling Comandos found a concentration camp and liberated it. Because I know coming across a scene like that would definitely break Mary, and I know that boiling rage would creep up in Steve and his commandos from seeing the horror there.

I can actually see that being canon during the war, possibly one of their missions before they capture Zemo. Or even an off book mission that Mary drives point on because her heart has always been one that never lets those in need go unattended

Apologies for not posting anything! I truly do want to continue my books, but life’s gotten busy with work and such since December. When i get back to my books, you’ll know! But for right now i don’t have any plans to write any new chapters unless i get a burst of inspiration.
