Katie Bailey

Hi, my name is Katie (people call me Kate), a 23 year old passionate writer and advocate, weaving tales that bridge the worlds of children's literature and psychology.  I teach in a primary school and I have a bachelors degree in science and I am currently half way through a masters degree. My journey is uniquely shaped by personal experiences, and I wear my story with pride. Living with epilepsy has added a layer of complexity to my life, but it has also fuelled my determination to share stories that inspire resilience and courage. I proudly wear hearing aids, a testament to the strength I found when faced with the challenge of hearing loss. Writing is not just a profession for me; it's a calling. I merge my love for storytelling with a deep understanding of the human mind. My dream is to be an author, creating narratives that not only captivate young minds but also offer insights into the human experience.
At the core of my work is a mission to educate and foster empathy. I want to change perspectives, encouraging everyone to embrace differences rather than fear them. My childhood experiences, have given me a unique lens through which I view the world, and I hope to share that perspective with readers. My writing journey began at the age of 9 when I penned a children's book that was later published-an early achievement that set the stage for my future endeavours. Writing became more than a skill; it became my sanctuary. As I continue on this literary journey, my hope is to empower others, particularly children, to see the beauty in their differences and recognise that diversity is a source of strength. Through storytelling, I aim to build bridges of understanding, nurturing a world where acceptance and celebration of uniqueness prevail.
