Hey everyone!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve probably noticed something—I write in very different worlds. On one hand, I’m drawn to dark romance, MC, and mafia stories full of danger, betrayal, and edge. On the other, I absolutely adore angst-heavy, twist-filled romances—often historical, sometimes set in modern times.

Because I get inspired by such different genres, my writing reflects that variety! With that in mind, I’ve decided that once Tangled Fates is published, I’ll be releasing those historical and Harlequin-inspired stories under a second author name: Amelia Kray. This will help keep my works separate and make it easier for readers to find exactly the stories they love.

I also wanted to share that I’ve been working on a very dark romance for quite a while now. It’s pitch dark in classification and includes a long list of trigger warnings. I’m still on the fence about posting it here before it’s published because of the intense content, but I wanted to be upfront about it in case some of you are interested or want to be prepared.

If you want to stay up-to-date on my projects, sneak peeks, and more, please join my Facebook group (link is in my profile or just search my name)! I’ll also be looking for readers for Tangled Fates soon—offering early copies in exchange for honest reviews and feedback on any editing needs.

That said, the dark romance I’m writing will also need readers and lovers of all things dark and twisted when it’s ready, so keep an eye out if that’s your vibe!

For those who’ve read The Last Farina, I would truly appreciate if you could leave a review on Goodreads—it would mean the world to me! Since I’m now posting Silvio’s story, I’m also keeping an eye on any comments so that if readers didn’t like a certain aspect of The Last Farina, I can make sure to adjust or remove it in The Rose and Her Blade.

Thank you all so much for your support—I’m excited to share both sides of my storytelling with you!

I am ABSOLUTELY LOVING The Heather Wife!! I am usually not particularly interested in historical stories but this one has me fascinated. I'm reading on mytablet with my phone opened to the Google search page so that I can look up and understand Scottish vernacular in context.
I'm loving it and can't wait for more of Sorcha!

HopingForTheBest44

Hey everyone

The Heather Wife will be taking over Butterflies & Other Lies’s spot once that story is complete (just one epilogue left!). And just a quick reminder—just because a story isn’t fully posted here yet doesn’t mean it isn’t already finished. My stories are always complete before I begin sharing them here.

I’m so glad so many of you are enjoying The Heather Wife! This one’s a bit heavier—the crime Calum committed against Sorcha was severe, so his grovel will be more drawn out. In historical romance, groveling often looks different than it does in modern romance—the expectations for men and women were firmly set in their time, which shapes how their remorse and redemption arcs play out.

I also want to clear up something that’s come up in the comments: Calum and Elspeth never had a physical relationship, and there’s no physical cheating in The Heather Wife. In this time period, sex was reserved for marriage, and Calum knew he could never marry Elspeth due to her lower social standing.

I’ve always seen Calum’s “love” for Elspeth as more of a childhood infatuation. As for Elspeth, I think she wanted to keep Calum close—maybe hoping he’d one day choose her and give her the power and title she longed for. Did she truly love him? I was never 100% certain of her intentions while writing her. To me, she feels a bit bitter; perhaps her feelings were genuine once, but over time, resentment crept in. And honestly, I can’t blame her for being hurt that the man who said he loved her couldn't marry her because of her social class.

It’s complicated and messy—but definitely not physical cheating.

Thank you all so much for reading and sharing your thoughts—I absolutely love seeing your reactions and discussions!

I started reading The Heather wife, and it's soooo good. I was wondering if you have any update schedule for it. And also can't wait for the H's downfall. The h is such a sweetheart. I wanna give her a hug.

Do let me know about the update schedule, if there's any.
          Thank you :)

HopingForTheBest44

@Escape_land3005 Aww, thank you so much! I’m so happy you’re enjoying The Heather Wife—the h definitely deserves all the hugs!

I did post a little while back about the schedule, but just to repeat it here: for now, Butterflies & Other Lies has taken the posting spot opposite Tangled Fates. There aren’t too many chapters left in either of those stories, and once Butterflies wraps up, The Heather Wife will take over that spot. Until then, it’ll be updated every few days.

Thank you so much for reading and being so excited about it—it honestly makes my day to hear this!

Hello Everyone!
The Heather Wife is now live!

Set in the wilds of the Scottish Highlands during the mid to late 1400s, this story takes place in a time when a Laird’s word was law, and marriage contracts—often forged in blood and necessity—could either save a clan or spark a war. Love wasn’t always part of the equation… but sometimes, fate—and a strong woman—can turn a man’s carefully laid plans upside down.

If you enjoy emotional slow burns, heroines who know their worth, and marriages built on duty—not to mention heroes who act more like zeros (at least at first)—I hope you’ll enjoy The Heather Wife.

A quick note: While I’ve done my best to stay true to the traditions and cultural “do’s and don’ts” of the time, this story does not use historically accurate Scots dialect throughout. I found that heavy use of period-correct vernacular sometimes made the writing feel clunky or less accessible. The wordage I have used felt clearer on its own or in context. That said, if you have knowledge of the language or history and notice a significant error—please don’t hesitate to reach out! I welcome the opportunity to learn and improve. I sincerely apologize if any part of this story unintentionally causes offense.

You can now find my author Facebook account linked on my profile! My pen name is A.M. Kray, and I’m currently working to get preorders up for The Last Farina—which will be released soon on Kindle and Kindle Unlimited.

For now, Butterflies & Other Lies has taken over the spot in my posting rotation opposite Tangled Fates. There aren’t many chapters left in either story. The Heather Wife will be updated every few days and will take Butterflies & Other Lies’ place once it concludes.

Thank you, as always, for your incredible support.
          A.M. Kray

Just to clarify—Elspeth and Calum have never had a physical relationship. In their time, sex was seen as something reserved for marriage, and Calum knew he couldn’t marry her, so he never wanted to ruin her or compromise her future. There is emotional cheating in the story, but absolutely no physical infidelity at any point.

Hi Everyone!

Someone recently asked if Silvio will get a story—and I’m thrilled to say yes! Both Silvio and Vincenzo, our enigmatic Chairman, will have their own books. I can’t share too much yet, but both stories take place before The Last Farina. They’ll be twist-filled, emotional, and full of the kind of love that aches, protects, and endures.

While betrayal exists in this world, our heroes are not the betrayers. Like Matteo, they are completely captivated by their heroines.

There’s just one more chapter—and then the epilogue—left for The Last Farina. I hope it brings everything full circle for those who’ve followed Arabella and Matteo’s journey.

          Coming Soon: The Heather Wife
A historical romance set in the Scottish Highlands. The title is a nod to the strength and resilience of heather—a hardy flowering plant that grows in even the inhospitable conditions. Our heroine, Sorcha, is equally strong. There will be angst (of course!), but she’s unmoved by the hero’s ignorance—and I think you’ll love her for it.

          Butterflies & Other Lies
This short, emotional story is nearing its end. It’s based on my real-life experiences. I’ve seen comments about James’ personality shift—and while I can’t explain exactly why, I always felt that part of him was repressed, only fully surfacing when he found an environment that encouraged it. It’s a strange kind of heartbreak: realizing you never truly knew someone the way you thought.

          Tangled Fates
My historical romance Tangled Fates is also wrapping up. Poor Abigail has been through so much, and I’ve seen your passionate responses—especially toward Jasper. And yes, he deserves every bit of that criticism.

Thank you so much for reading, commenting, and being here. This community has made my writing journey such a beautiful one.

Lastly—I’m excited to share that I have decided that The Last Farina will be published on KU! If all goes well, more stories will follow.

HopingForTheBest44

Hello Everyone,

I will begin posting shortly a new story: 'Butterflies & Other Lies.'

I started writing this story when I was a teenager, and it’s stayed with me ever since—because it isn’t just fiction. It’s personal.

For those of us who grew up in unstable or unsafe homes, confusing comfort with love isn’t uncommon. When your world is unpredictable, anyone who offers warmth, attention, or protection can feel like something more. That need—for safety, for consistency, for someone to simply care—can blur the lines between affection and something deeper. I know that firsthand.

This story isn’t just Samantha’s. It’s mine, too. And maybe it’s yours, or someone you love.

It’s about learning the difference between being chosen and being safe. Between being needed and being loved. It’s about how we sometimes chase the person we think we belong with—only to realize the one who truly sees us has been beside us all along.

Samantha will end up where she belongs.
And if you’re still finding your way—please know that doesn’t mean you’re lost. You’re just not there yet.
          ❤️

I hate to break from the story, but this feels necessary—especially for new readers who may not have seen my original posts. When I introduced Tangled Fates, I billed it as a Regency-era Harlequin and warned that it might feel like a rage read for some. That was intentional. I knew parts of this story—and several characters—might frustrate or even anger readers.

I chose the Regency era deliberately—not for the ballrooms, but because the legal and social limitations of the time gave women very little power. That lack of choice is woven throughout the story. My hope is that what makes Tangled Fates stand out isn’t just what happens—but the emotional journey we take to get there.

For context: in the Regency period, a husband had near-total control over his wife and children. Once married, a woman’s legal identity was absorbed into her husband’s. Her father had no rights over her, and the only way her family could intervene was by proving actual physical abuse. Emotional cruelty didn’t count.

In the story, Abigail’s father is trying to make the best of a situation he cannot change. Jasper, for his part, is showing rare emotional vulnerability for someone of his rank—a quiet effort that reflects his desire to make amends.

I’m truly grateful for the passion this story has sparked—that was always the goal. But I’m also human. Some personal or cruel comments make it difficult to stay motivated to post daily updates. Strong reactions to characters are expected—but please remember there’s a real person behind the story.

Thank you for reading—and for staying with Abigail and Jasper through their messy, tangled path. Your support means the world.

TheBubs926

@HopingForTheBest44 I’m sorry you are dealing with that BS. I’m loving the story so far and look forward to reading more of Jasper groveling and their eventual reconciliation.

@HopingForTheBest44 I think that it is blooming brilliant, I love how you have developed the story so far....but I still think Jasper needs to do some major grovel

@HopingForTheBest44 thank you for sharing this story. I love the angst and can't wait for the rest of the story. I think some people don't realize how different societies and regions during those time periods had rules for women and marriages.
