Here's another little Caoimhe and Ryder snippet!!! From Caoimhe's perspective:
“Why do you always have to be perfect?” Ryder asks, sitting down in a auditorium chair, in the row behind me.
“I don’t have to be,” I say, “I just want to be.”
“I think you want it a bit too much,” he says, clearly speaking about the blood dripping down my ankle, that I was currently bandaging.
I tisk, “what happened to us always understanding our art?”
“Mine’s not killing me,” he says. Although if death was a side effect of his violin playing, I didn’t doubt he would continue on.
“Find what you love and let it kill you,” I say, quoting one of my favourite sayings, “I wouldn’t want to go any other way.”
He looks at me disapprovingly.
I shake my head, “you can’t judge me, when you can play for the rest of your life, I’m on a clock before my body gives out.”
“And what will you do when you can no longer perform?” he asks.
“Kill myself,” I answer easily, and grin when Ryder’s eyes shoot to mine, “relax, it was a joke.”
“Not a very funny one,” he says stiffly.
“You worry too much,” I chide.
“You make me worry too much,” Ryder responds.
“I know,” I say returning to my bandage, “I’m a ticking time bomb.”
“No you’re a person,” he says, “not a machine, you need to take care of yourself Keev.”
“I do,” I say, “I’m achieving my goals.”
“You’re achieving in putting me in an early grave,” he says.
