From the moment Hatsu wormed her way into my shriveled, black heart, I knew she was different. 

So I went to see my doctor.

Turns out, I'm infected with a fairly harmless parasite called a 'Hatsu'. The side-effects of this co-dependent relationship are mild, and include unusual feelings associated with a phenomenon known as 'friendship'. These odd sensations manifest themselves mostly in the facial muscles, appearing as what you might call an 'anti-frown'. 

The Hatsu parasite is of the extroverted variety and will most likely cause carriers to feel more positively about meeting new people. Additionally, preferences in entertainment may change unexpectedly, shifting towards anime and manga, which Hatsu feeds off of. 

Although my case is manageable, not everyone infected with Hatsu may experience the same results. If a host is incompatible, the parasite may react unpredictably, and could cause severe side-effects such as derisive sarcasm and the silent treatment.

I've been infected with Hatsu for nearly three years, and have never had any issues, other than the occasional warm, fuzzy feeling that occurs in my heart as it grows accommodate her presence there.
