Happy Easter(if you celebrate it)!!!
Also, I recently got DBZ: Kakarot, and I’m loving it so far. I didn’t watch Dragon Ball growing up, so this is kinda my way of introducing myself to it. Probably should’ve started with the anime, but hey, the game was 70% off.
But enough about me, did everyone have fun this Easter???

I don’t know why, but I feel the need to say this.

Last month, I was talking to some friends about food and I brought up Ramen. Next thing you know, one of them says: Instant Ramen is better than an authentic, handmade bowl of Ramen.

I-, I- I can’t even begin to describe how much that hurt. Like, what kind of Crack Snorting, Weed Rolling and Smoking, Crystal Meth Grinding, 4-Year-Old on Adderall drugs was he on?????

My dad cooks for a living, and over time I’ve learned to appreciate all the unique food the world has to offer. Hell, I’d just gotten back from vacation, and I was in Japan. I’ve had both instant and authentic Ramen multiple times, and I could feel the hard work and love put into that bowl of noodles.

And to add salt to the wound, I LOST the argument; 3 against 1!!!!

@hiiamspirit I mean, they haven’t had good ramen. And I’d just gotten back from a vacation, so that kinda fueled the whole thing.
During the whole debate I forgot to think about the pros and cons. Instant ramen is convenient, tasty, and good if you’re on a budget. but it’s not the best. Authentic ramen has that feeling you get from a handmade, home cooked meal that makes you feel proud of yourself, like, you spent so long preparing it and the sense of accomplishment you get once you start eating is sooooo satisfying. But at the same time, it takes fore-fucking-ever to make and theres so many steps to it.

@GuiltyAchilles I am gonna be completely honest. I love ramen. I love Japan. It’s a beautiful country with amazing food, and I hope to return as soon as possible. I think authentic ramen is obviously better than instant, as much as I adore both. However, I understand preferring one to the other specifically because of how wildly different they are, so much so to the point they’re incomparable as the same food. They’re basically different foods.

Nothing beats the time and effort put into authentic foods of all kinds. I’m not totally appalled by preferring instant to not, but it depends on the reasoning. It is ridiculous to lack an appreciation for how incredible some foods are and what’s put into them, including ramen.
