SHINee's Kim Jonghyun left us today because of a mental illness he suffered for a long time, something that we could've prevented from happening if we took more seriously.
Depression is not a joke as this applies to any other illnesses and the right things should be done to prevent such sweet and hearted people like Jonghyun from leaving us. This isn't the first time tragic events like happen and it's surely not the last one if we continue to ignore the signs and not take action.
Jonghyun isn't the only one to suffer such pain but he is one of the only to talk about so openly alongside of G-Dragon, Yongguk and a handful other artists so just imagine all the suffering those who keep it quiet in fear of all kinds of reactions. Besides, I'm sure it's not only kpop idols that have these unwanted illness. Problems such as depression and anxiety and eating disorders are multiplying every single day and if we continue to ignore the signs I don't know what humanity is gonna end up like.
Please look around you and if anyone needs help and you can offer to help then do it. Simply listening can help a person immensely and for sure that does not take too much effort.
Back to what I was saying, with the incident of BigBang's TOP and now Jonghyun, the kpop industry should really take it seriously and take these two incidents as a HUGE wake up call. To have let down such wonderful and inspiring artist, composer and singer should be a crime.
Honestly, all I wish right now is for Jonghyun to be once again happy and not hurt in a place where he can feel free and wonderful.
