My friend's brother told me this story one time about a roommate he had in college named Joseph (he called him Joe most of the time though) and how he kinda ruined his life back then. So he and Joseph has been roommates for like two years and they hung out a lot and went to football games together, but Joe was kind of a secretive guy. He never told her brother where he came from, although he assumed it was from somewhere down south. So Joe was the jealous type, and he started getting Worked up because her brother had been seeing this girl and spending lots more time with her than with him. Anyway, one day after like a year of them dating, he proposes to the girl and she says yes. They plan their wedding and all is going well, and he invites Joe to come to his wedding and be his best man. Joe agrees, but he isn't super stoked about it. Unfortunately, about a month before the wedding, Joe is at work and he trips and falls face first into a glass table, which cuts him up pretty bad, and he goes to the ER and they have to put him under to stitch the wounds. Unfortunately, they had to remove one of his eyes because a shard of glass was jammed into it, so he had to wear a cotton pad over where his eye was. Anyway, cut to the night before the wedding. My friend's brother, Joe, and the other groomsmen are having a bachelor party, and they all get blackout drunk. At some point during the night, Joe leaves the party and runs off with the bride to be, never to be seen or heard from again. My friend's brother tells this story with an air of wistful sadness, and says it really upsets him even a decade later because (and I quote) "If it hadn't been for cotton eye Joe, I'd been married a long time ago. Where did you come from, Where did you go? Where did you come from, cotton eye Joe?"

I stg I had the most surreal experience today okay so my dad does private swimming lessons for kids, and one of his clients is friends with these people with a pool, so we had to drop them off at their house and it looked like your average everyday house, nbd right? my mom and I left for a while and came back after their lesson was over and my sister came running to the car and was like "you have to see the backyard it's amazing" and so I'm like "ok sure". So I go back there thinking that it probably has a trampoline or a gazebo or something but NO. Y'ALL, I DON'T THINK I'VE EVER BEEN IN A BACKYARD SO GORGEOUS IN MY ENTIRE 18 YEARS ON THIS PLANET. I was absolutely blown away the second I stepped through the gate, because I was instantly surrounded by a jungle of tropical plants Everywhere you turned there were hibiscus plants, palm trees, and so many others I had never seen and it was absolutely magical. Right in the center of it was a saltwater pool, of course, and a full on tiki bar. So the guys that own the house have lived there for like a decade after they got married, and they showed us around and talked about their plants and how they're blessed to have found a perfect place to create a little bit of paradise. They showed us all the stuff they grew there, and it was absolutely ridiculous. One guy gave us these GIANT green beans that were at least a foot long, and the other was super hyped about this huge patch of moonflowers they had growing and we stayed there for a while to watch them open and before we left one of them gave me a pink hibiscus that is literally as big as my head it's ridiculous like if heaven had to be like anything I would definitely hope it's at least a little like that backyard.
