Velma Cardin is a non de plume. It is my mother's maiden name, and I chose it to honor her because she died several years ago. She was a strong woman with virtually no education, who never completely understood an academically inclined and extremely shy daughter but was always proud no matter what that daughter did or did not do.

That shy child became a shy adult with the drive towards perfection. Another reason for the non de plume is fear. Yes, the traditional fears, success, failure, and change.

My love of books and history led me to major in English and minor in history. I have written two novels and several screenplays. Ultimately, I began writing TV scripts since TV is my first love.

My other addictions include exercise walking, desserts, mysteries, and any kind of puzzle. I find that walking is a great way to come up with scenes and dialogue.

Di<>mond Murders is an adaptation of an unproduced TV series I wrote. My goal is to share this story, these characters, and possibly future stories with Wattpad readers. However, I hope to do so while maintaining the flavor and feel of a TV script. In addition to this crime drama, I also have a sitcom pilot I may share called VAMPIRES THESE DAYS.

Under the heading, Tidbits and Trivia: Caroline McEwan is the best Marple. David Suchet is the definitive Poirot (sorry Kenneth Branaugh). Forgive me Benedict Cumberbatch; Elementary is superior to Sherlock. Midsomer Murders is my all-time favorite mystery series. Seinfeld and Succession are overrated. The Charmed reboot is underrated, and Legend of Tomorrow went off the rails.
