So I keep seeing people on any platform I use or anywhere I talk or share stories, react to how much trauma I dump trauma on half if not all of my characters. And I'm just laughing to myself like, "This is why, you should just stop and learn how to write wholesome". It's hilarious to me how people react because it's fun to write for an hour just to hope someone cries to your stories. Any writers relate? Lol.
But in all seriousness, the only reason I do this is kind of complicated, but I will cut it short. Basically I plan on attempting to become a therapist of some sort after college, and I always research types of trauma and mental disorders to learn about them out of curiosity. (Somedays I find myself watching documentaries of them, not going to lie). And I use the traumas I find or traumas I have heard of from books or some other source and I mix them together. For instance say a character in a book was hurt physically in a romantic relationship and resorted to annorexia- this would influence me to do something similar but in my case, the character would either be hurt by their family or just bullied at school and would suffer from self harm or smoking. This is mainly as a learning experience for myself to figure out how to write all of these situations and to learn the many ways in which people may try to escape it or how they may feel in that situation (even if long hours of research does that trick as well), which can help me better as a writer and learning how to possibly help people.
Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely love feedback/comments, they make me laugh, even if you are raging over a character death or just want to put a simple "Hi". Comment as much as you want, I was just setting this here incase anyone thought it was to poke fun or any of that nonsense.
