Bruce Douglas Reeves's Biography

My novella, DELPHINE, published by Texas Review Press, won the Clay Reynolds Novella Competition. I've also published three novels (THE NIGHT ACTION, New American Library (hardback) and Signet Books (paper), Great Britain: Andre Deutch (hardcover), Mayflower Books (paper), Germany: Droemer Knaur (hardcover), Deutsche Buch Gameinschaft (hardcover reprint); MAN ON FIRE, Pyramid Books; and STREET SMARTS, Beaufort Books and Ace Books.) Recently, I’ve completed a new novel. THE NIGHT ACTION was bought by Warner Brothers.

I've published more than forty stories in magazines and journals, print and online, including: The High Plains Literary Review, Runner's World Annual, Hawaii Review, The Long Story, Eclipse, The Drill Press, The Main Street Rag, The Evansville Review, Clapboard House, South Carolina Review, The Blue Lake Review, Danse Macabre, and The New Renaissance.

Four of my previously published short stories now are available again at ANTHOLOGY BUILDER (www.anthologybuilder.com). I've also written plays, some of which were produced in local theatre and on local cable television. My short story "Ida, Queen of the Jungle" was optioned by independent movie producer/director George Csicsery. My latest novella MAGGIE IN LOVE, is in LONG STORY magazine No. 32, 2014.

My wife, Sherrill, and I love exploring the world; we've visited more than 60 countries (they keep splitting and changing name), many of them multiple times. I especially am fascinated by the countries of the Middle East. Some of my friends think it's odd that I travel so much, since I've never had a driver's license. I also enjoy drawing and painting, especially portraits. I'm a fan of old movies, as well, particularly those from the 1930s and 1940s. Sherrill and I garden in our free time.
