I did it at last! Paying the Piper is finally complete. Now I intend to take a little break, catch up on reading, and work on other stories on the side.

Hope the end of the year finds you all happy, healthy, and safe!

Head's-up that I'm in the thick of NaNoWriMo. Chapters and responses and reading will be slower because of that. Good luck to any of you also participating in NaNoWriMo right now!

AyndhriaSoung

@Oliver-Hoffmann I wrote about 74,000 words, but I didn't finish anything, unfortunately. I did make some good progress with Piper, so I at least figured out which was it was going to go for the end. Just writing the last couple chapters now!
Did you participate in NaNo this year?

@AyndhriaSoung And how are your results? Finished your manuscript for November?

Well, I have mixed news, both good and bad at once: I was sucked into another story of mine despite my best efforts to stay committed to Paying the Piper. I'd been wanting to reread a couple of my works to prepare for what I will work on next this coming NaNoWriMo; however, I knew if I did that, I risked wanting to jump ship.

I resisted the siren call for as long as I could...but this weekend I reread last year's NaNoWriMo project and couldn't put it down. I immediately started writing on it and typed away into the night in a way I haven't been able to do with Piper.

So I will do my best to finish Piper before November, but if things slow, I apologize in advance. In the meantime, enjoy a blurb of what is tentatively titled Enthralled by Emotion:

When a magical artifact is shattered in a fit of rage, its power curses the land of Darroda. Now when people experience high emotions, the emotions take a tangible form: thunderstorms of sorrow, pitch night patches of fear, fiery tornadoes of rage. These emotes, once formed, remain on the land, endangering with an emotional overdose anyone who may encounter them.

A girl named Ren is discovered as the sole survivor in a village razed by an emote. Amazingly, she has the ability to absorb the emotional energy of the weaker emotes she encounters.

However, this gift comes with a cost: she can feel everyone’s emotions and is easily overwhelmed. She will need training if she is ever to face the stronger emotes covering the land, including the biggest emote of all: the rings of rage that started it all.

Not everyone wants her to uncover the secret at the heart of the emotes. The more Ren uncovers, the more the political plots make it clear that there is no true victor no matter what the outcome is.

As she lives the peoples’ emotions that fuel the emotes, her own emotional turmoil threatens to overwhelm her. Will Ren be strong enough to absorb Darroda's strongest emotions?

I have finished my edits of To the Well-Organized Mind, and it is available via Amazon. Just waiting to review a paper copy to ensure it meets my standards. :)

This also means I can return to devoting my time to Paying the Piper!

@AyndhriaSoung Woohoo! Congrats on another story published!!!!!!!!

Well, the announcement from KDP that they're raising prices effective June 20 has spurred me into action: I am busy polishing To the Well-Organized Mind for self-publication before the prices go up! Currently on the ninth chapter.
Thank you to those who have read the story and offered edits and areas for improvement--even just asking a clarifying question. Truly appreciate the feedback!

AyndhriaSoung

@CEBronk Nope, no plans to do that at this time. I don't even (yet?) have bonus chapters or anything to make the paper version a special deal. I just want a paper copy to hold in my own two hands! ^_^

Good luck with the self publishing!!

Does this mean you'll take down To the Well-Organized Mind, aside from a couple teaser chapters, to entice people to buy the book/ebook?

I have been busy at work for awhile on my new project. As of this moment, I'm only posting the summary and dedication, but I am hopeful I will reach a point soon where I can begin publishing the beginning chapters as well.

Think of it as a "coming soon" trailer for my next novel!
