In real life, I live and work in London, love movies and reading, am a serious foodie, and am into martial arts too (kickboxing and ju jutso). I've got a pretty varied taste in books - but the things that grab me aren't so much genres as they are really well-told stories and characters I can identify with.

So on my bookshelf you'll find things like The Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings jostling side-by-side with things like Stephen King, Clive Barker, Sven Hassell's Wheels of Terror, Colleen McCullough's Masters of Rome.

So how did I get started on this? Well, for years, I found myself pondering a set of stories, ones that simply refused to go away.

As they ran through my head, I began to jot them down. And then on one summers day, I came to realise they were not disparate stories but a series, all linked by a single, common theme. With that, an idea was born.

I began to write, and have spent some vacations travelling across North America to visit precise locations in the book. It's been fun - a little like walking onto a film set and seeing two worlds almost simultaneously: the real world and the one in my head.

This is very much a first draft of this novel - it's going to undergo a number of fixes so any feedback is gratefully received.

Anyway, welcome to my rather dark and dystopian world. Hope you enjoy!
