If you've heard news about the new Amazon Prime Middle Earth show they are producing, what are your thoughts? Every time I listen to a new update on it, I feel like I'm bracing myself to get punched in the face.

That being said - I don't/wont knock people for watching it, or being excited for it. But I don't support it, and I won't be supporting it. I fear it will be as cringy and lifeless as a Harry Potter show would be.

@Andreth88 I am a huge Tolkien fan, my mother used to read the books to be before bed, and I grew up watching the cartoon movie series. I was still fairly little when the first live action movies came out. And while I was grown when The Hobbit trilogy arrived at the movies, I did like it when most people complained about things, things no one seemed to care about when the same mistakes were made in LOTR trilogy movies. I've got all the books, by him and the others that came after that were a collect of his unfinished things. I've got books, and articles about Tolkien himself...and named one of my cats after his wife lol

But I loath the idea of this show. I've always thought this, nothing Middle Earth related should be a series. Why? Purely because TV/Streaming series mucks up Novels that are long and very detailed.

I'm one of the few who didn't like Game of Thrones TV adaptation.

Movies are fine because once they start filming they cannot change things to cater to the masses. TV series (streaming series) film by the Season. It's usually not small changes that are made when they start panicking about ratings and pleasing the audience.

If they want to reach a wider audience and help spread Tolkien love, they would push the movies on Amazon Prime, and the cartoons and even the movie on Tolkien himself. Or they would create a miniseries.
This whole thing only popped up as an idea for Amazon after they struggled with becoming a streaming company. Just an idea, then the movie Tolkien came out, and they saw how people loved learning about the beloved author and how that movie spurred people back to get his books and watch the movies.

I don't get the vibe from anyone apart of this project that they are true Tolkien fans or are doing it for the love of his books, the world that he created, or anything close. It feels like they spotted a cash cow, and usually when that's the case, they will be willing to ruin it in order to keep the rating good.

@Andreth88 I look forward to it. Always the optimist haha.
But then I'm not picky, and I like that they want to make more Tolkien content available for the "wide audience".
Like when the LOTR movies and the Hobbit movies came, there was an influx of people who began to read the books and joined the fandom.

I was one of them haha, I had never finished the first LOTR book before (though I did read the Hobbit), but when I heard they were making the movies I read the whole trilogy before I went to see the Fellowship in the cinema. And since then I'm hooked!

Hey I have a question, will you continue the story of times of war? It's just I kind of have theories I want to solve and know if they are right or wrong and it feels like a mystery of what will or what happened next and it just makes me try to know what happened after the last chapter, so thank you if you read and answer my comment and if not it's ok no problem, thank you so much for your time.
