Honestly, one thing I've never understood myself is why you would need months and holidays for something that's supposed to be part of you (who you love, what's between your legs, the color of your skin, etc... I'm not counting faith under this, as that's something you actually practice/do). I guess it's because I'm a firm believer in meritocracy and equality.
A lot of people in these "protected classes," including some I've interacted with and some I've heard of, don't really care for these things (this includes people who would be considered part of the Pride Month celebrations, particularly those who feel that the community has been hijacked by narcissists and perverts). They'd rather be recognized for something they did, not something they are. And hell, I agree with them. Apparently, there is a lesser known "history month" that includes me... and personally, I don't care about it. I'd rather be recognized for some great achievement like rendering medical aid to wounded persons (which I've actually done), rather than my skin color or anything else that I am.
I'm just speaking for myself though. Standing by for cancellation in 3, 2, 1...
