Hola Everyone,
My off Wattpad life has been a bit hectic lately, so I've fallen behind on posting Away to Realania. I'm working to get back into posting updates weekly, so be on the lookout for a new chapter soon. The plan is still to finish the story in the next few months.

          	Cheers,
          	AJ

“What are those?” Angélio asked.

The Kanhondo smiled. “One jar holds the tears of Yeluria, Crowned Spirit of beauty, romance, poetry, and song. If drunk, a single drop can make anyone fall hopelessly in love with the one who poured it. Another has Chakgarra (Lightning Talon), which is said to be the sharpest blade ever forged. And the final jar contains the Drowning Breath Telchiwa (curse); anyone who lifts that lid will meet certain death. I will leave you to imagine what that would entail.” The beast chuckled. “The rules are very simple: I will allow you to open one of the jars without attacking.”

Angélio did the mental math and didn’t like his odds. Not a fraction...

Angélio knit his eyebrows together. "I thought it was the Kanhondo's treasure."

"It's not," Kaxu shook his head. "That creature is only the guardian of the treasure, not its possessor."

"Oh," Angélio rubbed the back of his head. "So why doesn't the Northern Cheloel guard the treasure himself?"

"Because some might say he is too great," Kaxu replied. "But that mage has fogged the line between greatness and terribleness," he sighed. "Regardless, the Northern Cheloel has placed a formidable telchiwa (curse) on the caves across the river. He has made it so they all lead to the lair where the Kanhondo dwells. But the way back will twist and turn, ensuring that even if someone is victorious against the guardian, they will never live long enough to tell the tale. I can hear the eerie curse whispering off the walls."

“How would it trick me?” Angélio asked before Roende could finish.
“It is in the nature of Kanhondo’s to deceive those unfamiliar with their ways,” was the reply. “They are ancient creatures who become more cunning when their life is threatened. But you must remember that it is a beast that only cares about its well-being. So, it will say whatever is needed to save itself and devour you. The Kanhondo will not show you any mercy; you must become just as merciless to defeat it. Do you understand?”

Angélio nodded with a mango-sized lump in his throat.

"...Had the boy been able to see, he would have noticed that the guitar was playing all by itself, hovering in the air like a balloon.

Roende was over at the table, standing in front of the two cups. When the piñata cracked open, the maralujo flew back to the guitar in the blink of an eye."

"Hide behind that tree--now," he pointed to a bronze bark plant about two feet away. "And do not speak until they leave."

"Until who leaves?" Angélio asked, looking around but seeing no one else but Roende.

"Do as you are told--if you want to live," was the reply.

Thousands of trees lined streets and filled parks, and leafy vines, blooming with purple flowers, covered countless structures. The three rivers cascaded down the step-like sections of the city until they flowed off cliffs as breathtaking waterfalls, falling into the sea far below. And upon the five towers looking over the edge, waved long flags with stripes of deep purple, gold, and white.

“What’s that city called?” Angélio asked. “It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.”
          “Carcoel,” Roende replied.
“I can’t wait to see what it looks like up close,” Angélio said…
“We are not going there,” Roende said in a dark tone.
