For my American followers, there's a lot of crap coming out of this administration. I urge you to read these executive orders and bills because, while yes they're scary, they're going to directly and negatively affect you or people you care about.

I don't have any good news beyond this: there are other people in your corner, even if it doesn't feel like it. But it's on all of us to express our discontent. Form communities, get active, contact your representatives. Contact any representatives who will listen. Help one another. House members, congress members, judges, governors, mayors, even trump himself have means of being contacted.

If you're on this site, there's a good chance you're a writer and a reader, so use these strengths to your advantage. Read about the changes. Write about them. Write to people who can affect change and to people who may not understand what's going on.

Be the squeaky wheel, and don't comply in advance. It's only been three weeks since innauguration, and we've got four years ahead of us - only four if we're lucky.

ACNP000

@ACNP000 I'd also like to add this addendum.

Despite social media having become the lifeblood of our private and public information systems, very few of them are secure. Anything from Meta (facebook, threads, whatsapp), the social media site formerly known as Twitter, Alphabet company owned properties (anything from Google).... All of these are in communication with federal groups.

There are ways to protect your data, and much of it is inconvenient, like not putting it online in the first place. But I'd look into Signal, and if you're serious about privacy, Tor. End-to-end encryption is rapidly becoming a must-have for anyone among the demographics this adminstration is turning into casualties. LGBTQ, non-white, anyone with a uterus, you'll want to keep your data safe.

@QuantumRaven I'm glad you found my comments useful, and here's hoping you're able to get back to posting your stuff on here.

I'm in the middle of three different stories. I'm letting Natural Magic settle a bit, and in the mean time I've got the next book in the series on my plate (not being posted here yet) as well as two unrelated stories, Eudaemonia and Given Every Curse. If you find yourself able to take the time on it, I'd love to hear what you think.

QuantumRaven

Hey, it's been a long time! I hope things are going well with you, my friend!

QuantumRaven

@ACNP000 Scion is actually the name of the planet in the story. I have been working diligently with editing and creating more in-depth detail to the story. As a result, a lot of what is currently posted is going to be revised and edited again and then reposted. I'm not gonna change much as to what has been posted, but I am going to give it more emotional depth. For example, one of your comments really stood out to me about how the father of my main character reacts to his home being burned down and believing his wife and son to be dead as a result. His reaction falls flat. You were spot on with that as well as your other critiqing comments.

To answer your question about new material, yes I do have new material that is ready for posting but I want to read through it one more time to look for any mistakes or situations that don't add up to the rest of the story. But there is a lot coming, though! Malaghon's detailed training, his need to honor his father through vengeance. I hope when I do post, I get some feedback on it and develop more friendships.

Other than that ive just been trying to get more done so that I can post more content regularly. I've had a hard time keeping up with it and I've lost followers as a result. But that's how it goes sometimes. Lol

@QuantumRaven I remember reading some of Rise of the Quantum Knights. It's got an interesting - what I'd call grim dark, but not, say, the over-the-top kind like WH40K - low magic system. I recall the story arc being somewhat operatic, involving a scion? It's been a while. Do you have more than what you've posted here?
And I'm glad you like my feedback. I worry I get too harsh or too opinionated. I just follow what my creative writing teacher told me: 1) When giving criticism, it's all your opinion, so say how it makes you feel without softening it with "in my opinion..." 2) When receiving criticism, not all criticism is created equal. You have to pick and choose what you act on.

@ACNP000 nice! It's such a great feeling when you finally get to the finish line of a novel! I'm still in the race for mine but I'm working hard on it. By the way I wanted to let you know that I really appreciate your input on my story. You give sound and very respectful criticism. I'd recommend you to proof read anyone's work.

Hey all, just wanted to shoutout that I'm making steady progress with the second draft of Natural Magic. If you're familiar with it, you should check it out. Quite a bit has changed. If you're unfamiliar, I absolutely forbid you from reading it. Please, don't. I'd be embarassed. I know I put it up on a public platform, but fr, please don't read it.

ACNP000

The second draft of Natural Magic is now up to chapter 18.

If you've read the first draft, I invite you to come check it out. There's been quite a few changes.

If you haven't, then I must warn you. The fortunes bode ill. Forces beyond mortal reckoning are working against you, and I advise against taking risks at this time. You are being pursued, and the pursuer has no face. A time will come when the correct words are spoken. Do not wander idly into the night lest it be without end. Establish your anchor in safe waters.

You're looking quite special today if you don't mind me saying. And you do it so effortlessly. What was I saying before you distracted me with your fashion sense? I think I remember it had to do about my book. Please, take a moment from your day of being fabulous to take a look at the new cover. Thanks to the combined efforts of Elchaart and CBMokedi it looks almost as good as you do. The dragon-thing there, looking mischievous, is Chicken, star of this little story I'm telling. I think he came out quite lovely. Anyway, the first twelve parts of the second draft are under that new and attractive thumbnail and I'd love if you'd put those gorgeous eyes of yours on the pages. I'd be doubly pleased if you would leave a comment or three as you do.

ACNP000

@Duncan_the_Editor I'm incredibly pleased with it all. It's a major step up
