          The way Sirius ran alongside his friends with his wand drawn almost reminded him of old times. The breathtakingly destructive and hellish years of the last war. It had been both the most beautiful and the most terrible time of his still very young life. 
          
          The magic going on deep inside the Ministry was more noticeable the further they travelled, telling them that they were on the right path. Sirius could feel the adrenaline slowly coursing through his veins and fuelling his heart. It had been a long time since he had felt so alive and free. 
          
          But Sirius could hardly savour his newfound freedom. His chest tightened as he thought about what would happen once they had freed the youngsters. He would have to return to his parents' house and endure imprisonment again. The worry for his godson also increased a little with every step. What if they didn't make it?

          When Serena re-entered her room, it wasn't clear at first which of the two was more surprised at the sight of the other. "Cute pyjamas," Edmund grinned, but she stared at him as if she had been kicked by a hippogriff. "Why are you naked?"

          Serena had barely arrived in the familiar shopping street before she felt blindsided. It had been at least three years since she had last been out in the fluorescent Muggle city and now she had to fight her way through the crowd as a strange girl with a cloak over her school uniform, which was still stained with dirt. 
          
          The Gryffindor tried as best she could to ignore the looks she received as she passed each shop, but one kind of look had stuck in her mind. Cautiously, she glanced at the two men behind her, who didn't seem to be quite part of it themselves. Their eyes were still on her and they seemed to be heading in the same direction as the two runaways. "I think we're being followed," she whispered to Edmund, who was busy marvelling at the Muggle world. 
          
          "I think you're just being paranoid."
          
          "But maybe you're right," she replied hesitantly. "What if everyone really has already been informed that I'm wanted?"
          
          Finally, the Slytherin turned round as well and Serena could see a malicious grin spread across one man's face. "Run," Edmund then whispered so unintelligibly that she thought she had misheard him. "What?"

          "Is this a new way to learn faster?" she was finally startled by the voice whose owner she had been trying to avoid. She should have left while she still had the chance and now she was stuck with him. Without waiting for an invitation from her, Edmund sat down in the chair opposite her and looked at her briefly, "Are you avoiding me?"
          
          Serena slowly straightened up and tried to put on a calm face. But her rapidly beating heart stopped her in her tracks due to the premature and sudden confrontation. "N-no, I-I-I..."
          
          "I-I-I..." he mimicked her and narrowed his eyes. "What's wrong with you?"
          
          "Just go," she replied so quietly that he couldn't possibly have heard. Her thoughts, her feelings and, apparently, her body temperature were going completely crazy, and she needed nothing more than peace and quiet to get an overview of this chaos and sort it out. 
          
          "Nice scarf, by the way," Edmund suddenly said mockingly and began to grin as he changed chairs and now sat right next to her. Serena unconsciously held her breath as he got closer and closer to her. Far too close. Closer than she needed at that moment. With a fleeting movement of his hand, he undid the knot of her scarf and slipped it off. "Are you hiding my pretty work of art?"
          
          "N-no." 
          
          "No? Good." The corners of his mouth twitched as he finally averted his gaze and turned the thin scarf in his hands. "But I'd prefer it if you spoke to me in full sentences, Black."

          Regulus tried to convince himself that Camille would have a plausible reason for speaking to Sirius so often in secret. But the dark thoughts remained. He took a deep breath and tried to focus on something else. Plants. They were important for now. 
          
          But Regulus' thoughts twisted and turned, no matter which direction he tried to steer them in. When he turned into the next corridor, he had no choice but to think of the pretty Malfoy and his brother. Because there they were. Turning conspiratorially towards each other. 
          
          The young Black stopped behind the fork in the road. If there was one thing he was good at, it was staying in the background. Although the conversation had seemed rather familiar at first, it also seemed tense to him. Became more heated. Until Sirius finally did what he did best: Running off.

           "What's wrong with me?"
          
          "Apart from the fact that you undressed in front of him?" Hailey laughed, promptly earning a scowl from her friend. "We've already worked out that the guy is a bit off the rails. Maybe there's another reason."
          
          Serena sighed. "And if not?"
          
          "Why do you care what he thinks of you?" she asked, scrutinising her before slapping her hand over her mouth in horror and widening her light brown eyes. "Merlin, I think we have a problem!"
          
          "A problem?" Serena asked hesitantly, not quite seeming to follow the Hufflepuff, who was now giving her a knowing look, "You have a crush."
          
          She said it as if she had just told her the diagnosis of a serious illness and Serena couldn't even blame her. She turned bright red and hoped she had misheard. It was almost ridiculous that she woke up in the same bed as the idiot and she was supposed to have a crush on him. "No, I have not," she hissed, realising her glowing cheeks at the same moment. "Or have I?"
          
          Hailey looked at her thoughtfully. "Well, it's not surprising. He's good-looking and funny in his own weird way."

          It was already past midnight and the lands were covered in darkness. Little fairies of light danced across the lake and between the dense trees of the forbidden forest that surrounded them. It was no wonder Serena had never noticed this gallery, as it was well hidden at the back of the water. The sky was clear, revealing the moon and bright stars shining down on her. Hall's hair shone in the moonlight as his turquoise blue eyes rested on her, "You look terrible."
          
          Serena stared at him thunderstruck and rolled her eyes before letting her gaze wander over the pretty spectacle before her again, "I don't know whether to kiss you or push you into the lake."
          
          "Can I pick?"

          "Fancy losing more points, Black?" he called out to her from the other end of the corridor. His voice echoed off the stone walls and mingled with the sound of his loud footsteps.
          
          "What, is it forbidden to stand around now too?" Serena remarked, crossing both arms provocatively in front of her chest as the Slytherin stood in front of her, looking suspicious, his eyes darting to the door behind her. "What are you doing here?"
          
          "Waiting."
          
          His grin deepened as he leaned casually against the wall. "Good, then I'll wait with you."
          
          "No, you're not," she hissed, knowing in an instant that she'd given herself away. She bit her lip and hoped that she could somehow talk her way out of it.
          
          "I see." He grinned broadly, as if he had just received a fat trophy for his realisation. "So something forbidden after all."
          
          Serena rolled her eyes, but remained silent. She would rather throw a tea party with Trelawney than reveal her true reason for being there. Fortunately, Hall seemed as uninterested in this as she was in what he had eaten for breakfast. "Don't worry, I won't give you away," he said, his turquoise eyes glittering treacherously. "I don't have to, though, because Filch is on his way here."
