Akutagawa is actually really good with kids, he mistreated Kyouka because of how Dazai treated him but with other children he's surprisingly gentle and can handle them really well because he raised Gin and the other kids in the slums.
          
          I can imagine during during a mission they run into a stray child and Atsushi's panicking but Akutagawa just crouches down to the kids height and calms them down before helping them evacuate to a safe place. ((Of course to protect his reputation to Atsushi when the kid is away he cuts the weretigers leg off smh))
