“Wow! It’s huge!” Kory Arnold-Saunders cried, looking around the college campus.
“You dummy. We’ve been here several times,” his stepbrother and boyfriend, Trace Saunders, said in annoyance, smacking Kory in the back of the head.
“Owwie! You’re mean to me Trace,” Kory whined, pouting at Trace and rubbing the back of his head.
He released Trace’s hand and turned his head childishly, determined to make Trace frustrated for being a jerk to him. So what if he was excited that they were finally moving into their dorm today?
Trace sighed in annoyance. “You’re trying to piss me off, aren’t you?”
Kory nodded, trying to hide his smirk. The way that Trace knew him so well excited him. And the fact that no one here at the college knew they were stepbrothers meant that no one would give them strange looks when they were together.
“Fine, fine, fine. Whatever. I’m sorry,” Trace grumbled, taking Kory’s hand back in his. “Now let’s go find the dorm. Our roommates are probably already in there. Today is the last day to move in, after all. Stupid car problems.”
Kory began to jump up and down in excitement. “YAYAYAYAY COLLEGE AND NEW FRIENDS! Man, I hope our roommates are cool! I’m so excited to be at college!” he cried.
“The maturity of a 5 year old. Oh Kory,” Trace said with a helpless sigh. He released Kory’s hand and bent down, picking up his bags. Kory copied him and the two began to head towards their dorm building.
Kory began to look around, fascinated by all the commotion on campus. Students were walking around, talking and laughing. The campus was bright and alive, back in session.
Kory felt himself run into someone and staggered back, falling down and dropping his things. He looked up to apologize, and nearly froze in terror.
“Watch where you’re going!” the muscular, attractive boy snapped.
“Calm down. It was an accident!” Trace growled at the boy.
Kory stood back up, gathering his things. “Sorry. It really was just an accident. I wasn’t paying attention,” he said apologetically.
“Well learn to pay attention!” the boy said angrily.
“Back off him. He apologized!” Trace said, glaring.
“Oh. Yea. He did,” the boy said, sounding slightly confused. He stared at Kory before turning and walking off.
“I…what,” Kory said in confusion, staring at the boy until he had disappeared into a crowd of kids.
“Are you alright?” Trace asked.
Kory nodded, still confused. What a weird kid. But, hey, he had been pretty attractive. Kory had a feeling he was going to like it here.
They made it to their dorm building and went inside, going up to the second floor where their dorm was. Trace pulled out his key and unlocked it, letting them in.
They entered the main part and set their stuff down, looking at the door on the right and the door on the left.
“I wonder if our roommates are here yet, and if they’ve picked out a room,” Trace said, glancing between the doors again.
