When I woke up I couldn't see anything.

Then, when I could see, I had a déjà vu moment.

Jason was tied next to me, unconscious. I couldn't see Leo. I doubted he was there. I looked up (well, technically I looked down) and I saw a huge pit of boiling water.

Then I saw something I didn't know I would ever see. Reyna was off tied in the corner in a square glass box. I couldn't believe that the string holding the box could even hold that much weight. The edges of the box were made of steel.

Reyna was slamming on the glass and yelling, although it just came out muffled and lost in the air.

I didn't see Monster-Jason anywhere. Maybe he was out to lunch or something. Or maybe we were his lunch.

I did the only thing I could.

I started swinging back and forth. I got my hands free and started cutting the rope with Katoptris

I didn't realize my knee really hurt until I landed.

I yelped so loud that my Jason woke up. I scrambled to the wall which was only a few feet away. I put my hurt knee up to where I could examine it.

Oh, gods.

When I removed the bandage, all I saw was green ick. I gagged. I held my knee in closer and tried to put pressure on it. Jason came over, the ropes he had been in all cut up in his hands, showing that he escaped by himself.

"Is this supposed to happen?" I asked him. "Is Imperial Gold supposed to make skin green?"

He put my leg down (which I kept flinching) and he gasped. "Piper, this isn't good. We need to figure out where we are, get Reyna, and go back to the Argo II to get some medical help. This is really not good."

My legs felt like jelly, and my head was spinning. The wound was way too horrible for me to concentrate on anything except that my mind was screaming: Ouch ow holy Zeus OUCH.

And I collapsed.

I was aware of Jason pulling me right back up, my head limply resting on his shoulder. He wrapped a comforting arm around my waist.

From behind the glass box, Reyna was still screaming. She saw us and her eyes narrowed in on Jason’s arm around my waist. She quickly forgot about it, though.

“Go!” she yelled, though it came out as a small little muffled whisper. “The monster is coming back! Hurry, you have to go now!”

“No!” I yelled back. “We’re not leaving you, Reyna!”

Reyna’s face suddenly filled with horror as her dark eyes focused on something behind me. Her mouth opened to an O shape and she screamed and her perfect scream was the only sound cutting into my frozen body.

Someone chuckled behind me. “You are naughty little demigods, escaping already?”

It felt like a frozen hand was closing around my heart and lungs. It was Monster-Jason, the one with the British accent.

Something collided with my head, sending me sprawling across the room. There stood Monster-Jason, his hand enclosing around Jason’s neck- my Jason.

“No!” I shrieked. My voice was hoarse. “Don’t kill him!” I met Reyna’s terrified eyes for one moment. “Kill me instead.”

Jason’s blue eyes widened.

Before my eyes, Monster-Jason began to shift. He was taller, his eyes wide and the color of amber. He had spikes on his back, giant lion claws, and a spiky tails, the spikes dripping with poison. His canine teeth were pointed, and he was absolutely huge.
