A red furred creature with spikes erecting from his gloves and dreadlocks was hard at work on the outskirts of the city of Station Square, helping others with a construction project which was nearing completion. A cobalt blue hedgehog and a golden yellow fox walked by to check in on their red friend.

"Heya, Knuckles!" The cobalt blue hedgehog spoke to his red friend.

"Woah! Look out below!" Knuckles warned as he lost his grip on a handheld item. The cobalt blue hedgehog moved out of the way, as did his golden fox friend. "Might want to put on a hard hat if you're gonna hang around, Sonic." Knuckles advised.

"Yeah yeah, sure sure." Sonic sighed. His fox friend already had them in hand. "Thanks, Tails." Sonic thanked his two tailed friend.

"No problem, Sonic." Tails donned his hat.

"So, whatcha here for?" Knuckles asked, gliding down to them.

"Just checking on the progress. Still can't share what it is?" Tails asked.

"Nope. Not till it's open to the public. " Knuckles shook his head. "But I can give you a hint." He leaned in the whisper, and the duo also leaned in to receive. "You can learn to fly." Both Sonic and Tails had ideas as to what it could be right then and there.

"No wonder it's a huge place." Tails smiled.

"If you need anything, give us a call." Sonic did a "call me" motion with his hands, walking away with Tails.

"It should be open by the end of next month." Knuckles informed as they walked away.

"Thanks!" Tails yelled back. As they walked away and took off their hard hats, they theorized what the building could be.  "Maybe a trampoline park?" Tails wondered aloud 

"Or one of those places with the powerful fans that blow you into the air?" Sonic idealized.

"Or a flight school with planes?" Tails added

"Or a skydiving club?" Sonic smiled. "Hehe. The Miles High Club."

Tails giggled. "Nice. We have a whole month until we find out." They kept walking towards home.

A month later, the grand opening ceremony was taking place. Sonic and Tails were invited, and Knuckles was there to guide them to the proper place. The mayor of the city was there, in his brown suit jacket, white shirt, black pants, and dark blue tie.

"Ladies and gentlemen, humans and mobians." The mayor began his speech. "Today, we open a state of the art facility, for the young, the old, the interested, and the experienced. The past five years of building have led to this point. Please give a big hand to our construction team." The mayor gestured to the team next to them, which included Knuckles. They all took a gracious bow as they were applauded. "As I said, this is a state of the art facility, possibly the largest in the city in terms of area. It includes flight training with real planes and simulators, airstrip for practicing and professional pilots, landing zone for parachuters. The building you see behind me is our grand entrance, and our employees will show you around to the different places on the complex. Got little ones? They can earn their training wings in our trampoline park. Want to fly without using a plane? Try our powerful fans which will power you into the air! Are you a mobian who can fly? Try the spacious hangars to practice your craft! Want a tour of the city? Join our trained pilots for tours! Our employees can tell you more." The mayor gave the capabilities of the facility. "Should the complex do well enough, we'll open an adjacent facility, making it a commercial airport."

"Without further ado..." The mayor grabbed a large pair of scissors. "I proudly declare The Station Square Flight Zone: Open!" The mayor cut the ribbon and cheers erupted from the crowd of onlookers. After a short five minute wait for the mayor to clean up his setup, everyone was allowed inside to explore.
