Henry Drives to the hospital and squeezes your hand when you get there. "I'll be back in just a few minutes okay?" he says. "What?" you ask him, confused as to what he means. "I have to go get Rosie settled and grab a bag and then I'll be back." "Henry," you say, "You really don't have to come back." He just says "Yes. I do." You get out of his car, and he says "I'll see you in a bit." You walk up to your room, and lay in your bed. You try and think of other things, but your eyes look over to Josh's side of the room and can't help but cry. You don't know how long you've been sitting in your bed, shaking with what you're trying to make silent sobs when Henry comes in. You don't even look at him, so you don't realize that Rosie is with him until you hear her little voice say "Daddy, why is Hauntie Crying?" You look up and see her in his arms, and he says "Auntie is just sad right now, baby. Why don't you go give her a hug." He sets her down and she runs as fast as her little legs will bring her over to your bed, where you help her up into your arms. She gives you a big hug, and buries her head in your chest, you laying your cheek on top of her curly brown hair. "I love you Rosie." you say after you sniff away the sobs. "I lowv you too huantie." she says. "It's really late, it's time for bed now my darling." you tell her, rocking her back in fourth in your arms. Henry walks over to your bed and sits next to you, his arm around you. and he starts humming Rosie's favorite bedtime song. Finally she falls asleep, so Henry takes her out of your arms, and lays her down in Josh's bed, with a bunch of pillows around her to keep her safe. What used to be Josh's bed you remind yourself. He comes back to your bed and you both lay there on your backs, staring at the ceiling in silence. It reminds you of the countless nights after your parents died when you would just lie next to each other crying for sleepless hours, unable to know how to live with that kind of pain. "Do you wanna talk about it?" Henry says quietly without moving. "Not really, but I probably should." you say, knowing talking through things usually helps. "You only have to if you want to." he says, turning his face and looking at you. "I don't want to." you say, and then you're both silent again. You're glad Henry's there, and you're even more glad he's not saying anything. He knows better than to tell you things like "it's all gonna be okay" or "there's plenty of fish in the sea, forget that loser!" Because you and Henry both know that you and Josh were meant to be. You just wish that Josh still knew it. After a little bit he says "I love ya, Sav." "I love you to, Henry." you say, "I just wish that Josh still loved me." and the tears start again. "I know" he says, wrapping his arms around you, "I know you do. And I think he does, he just needs some time okay. Just give it some time." "Do you really think he still loves me?" you question. "I do," Henry says, "I just don't think he realizes it yet." you're both quiet for a few minutes, and then he says "I don't think anybody who loves someone that much just stops loving them. I think he's just hurt.. and he thinks that pushing you away will make him better." That gives you hope, but it doesn't make anything better. "Thanks for everything Hen, Thanks for being the best brother out there." you say quietly. "You don't have to thank me." he says, "I'm just glad we have each other, I don't know what I'd do without you, or if we were some of those siblings who hate each other." You smile, actually smile for the first time in what feels like days, but really is just hours, and you say "I could never hate you." You both stop talking, and even though he tries to stay up with you, eventually Henry falls asleep. You can't seem to stop your mind, as you lay in bed thinking of Josh wishing it was him next to you instead of Henry, as silent tears fall down your cheeks at an alarmingly fast rate. You finally must fall asleep, because next thing you know you're waking up to sun streaming into your eyes. You check the clock and it says that it's just after 5 am. You see Henry sleeping next to you, and Rosie in his bed, and it reminds you of everything that happened yesterday. It feels like so long ago, like a distant and fuzzy memory. You remind yourself that everything happened just a few hours ago.. Tears form in your eyes again, but you push them away. You should be stronger than this boy. You just lay there quietly, knowing it's your first day without Josh.
