"So you can just leave your stuff here," David lead me into his bedroom and dropped the boxes he was carrying on the floor. "When my assistant gets home, we can get everything unpacked. Do you want to, like, talk about some rules? Are you tired? Are you thirsty?"

"David, I know I'm technically pregnant, but I don't feel any different yet," I laughed, tucking a piece of black hair behind my ear. "Let's just... talk. Maybe we should get to know each other or something since we are legally and morally tied to one another for the rest of our lives."

"Good idea," he nodded, leading me out of his bedroom and into the living room, taking a seat on one of the white couches and gesturing for me to do the same. It was too quiet in his living room, and I felt in a minute I'd be swallowed by his intense stare.

"So, uh, what's your favorite color?" I finally blurted out once the silence became too much. David began laughing.

"That's your question?" he raised his eyebrows in disbelief. "We're having a baby and you want to know my favorite color?"

"Do you try to make me feel stupid or does it just come naturally?" I sarcastically asked, crossing my arms defensively over my chest and leaning back into the couch.

"I..." he trailed off, as if he didn't have a clue what to say. Luckily for him, the universe didn't give him a chance to apologize. His doorbell rang before anything even close to sorry could leave his mouth. "Red. It's red."

"Okay," I nodded, unable to hide my agitation. "You can go get the door now."

"Sloane—"

"They're waiting," I interrupted, containing my smile when I heard the doorbell another three times. "Don't worry; I'll put on my little act for your friends."

He rolled his eyes (when he thought I wasn't looking) and made his way to his front door, perking up as a few of his friends entered the room. I recognized one of them. Her name was Carly; I only knew that because I thought she was the lead singer of Paramore for most of my high school and early college years.

"Sloane, this is Bruce and Carly. Carly and Bruce, this is Sloane," David introduced us, sneaking an arm around my waist and pulling me into his side. I smiled at the pair in front of me.

"Hello," I "nervously" waved to the couple. "Nice to meet you."

"You got a new friend, David?" Carly asked, flopping onto a large bean bag on the floor.

"Well..." David raised his eyebrows at me and I playfully giggled. "She's actually my girlfriend."

"You have a girlfriend?" Bruce's jaw dropped and he gave me another once over. "Since when?"

"Uh..." David trailed off, so I took the opportunity to speak, sitting myself down on the couch.

"We met probably six months ago, and we started dating March 12th," I lied, nodding in response to the two's shocked faces. "We know. We kept it a secret for a long time."

"Too long," David slipped a kiss on my cheek. "You guys are basically the first ones to know. Jason knows and Todd has met her, but that's basically it."

"Oh my god, I feel so special!" Carly cheered, tossing her ponytail sassily over her shoulder. "Are more people coming over or is this just a Carly-Bruce intervention?"

"No, don't feel too special," David laughed. "Todd, Corinna, Jason, Erin, and Zane are all coming over, I think."

"Ouch," Carly frowned and looked to her boyfriend.

"At least we were first!"

"Wait, Zane as in Zane Hijazi?" I asked, jaw dropped to the floor unironically. I didn't know too much about David to begin with, but the fact that David was friends with him was news to me.

"Stop, babe," David shot me a look, and I realized the connotations of my words. How were they going to believe we'd been dating for five months if I didn't know the basics of his friend group? His eyes flickered to Carly and Bruce as he said, "She told me when we first met that she had a crush on Zane, so now whenever I bring him up, she acts starstruck."

"In my defense, I was a little tipsy," I joked, shooting a grin up at David for his recovery. "And I had just watched a Vine compilation with him in it."

Carly and Bruce laughed like they thought nothing of it, which made relief flood my veins. Before I made any more mistakes in the quiet, intimate room, the doorbell rang again. Carly shot up to get the door and came back with the man himself, Zane Hijazi (and a tall blonde, but I didn't really care about her).

I squeezed David's hand until my knuckles turned white just to keep myself calm. David kept up our act by rolling his eyes as he introduced us, "Zane, this is Sloane. Sloane—"

"I got it," I didn't even have to pretend to be excited when I launched myself towards him for a hug. "I love you and Heath!"

"Oh, uh, okay," Zane awkwardly laughed and hugged me back, looking to David for reassurance. "Thanks! I'm sure I love you too."

I turned back to David with a triumphant look on my face. "You hear that?"

"Shut up," he playfully rolled his eyes, grabbing me by the waist and yanking me back to the couch next to him. One of my legs ended up resting on top of his and I almost removed it before his hand came to rest on my thigh, holding me down.

The tall blonde was making a confused face, which smoothed out when Carly blurted, "Erin, that's David's girlfriend!"

"Oh my god, what?" Erin's jaw dropped and her eyes travelled from my face to David's. "I knew you'd been acting suspicious for the past couple of months!"

"Yeah!" Zane nodded, taking a seat next to me on the couch. "Like when you would have "Thursday night alone time"! I knew you had a girlfriend!"

"Was that masturbation time?" I whispered in his ear and he chuckled, turning to me to say, "No, I'm addicted to online poker."

"Oh, cool, you should teach me," I commented while the group in front of us continued to freak out about David having a girlfriend.

"Yeah, sure," he shrugged, turning back to his friends who were arguing about who knew first.

"Guys," David spoke, but no one listened. "Guys!"

The room quieted down.

"Technically, none of you knew before Jason did. He was there the night I met her," David explained and they all rolled their eyes, slouching back in their seats. I giggled at the sight of a room of people so in sync.

"So, Sloane, who are you?" Zane asked, turning to face me. The whole room seemed to tune in. "Like what do you do? Are you a good person? AreyouaYoutuberserialkiller? All the usuals..."

"Uh, I'm majoring in journalism at USC; I think I'm a good person; no, I'm not a Youtuber serial killer, though sometimes David makes me think I should be."

"You make me feel like I should be a journalism major killer."

"Funny," I sarcastically smiled. "Really, you're so funny. Can I be you?"

"You wish," he replied while the group aww'ed about how cute we were. I stuck out my tongue and he stuck out his, the panicked look in his eyes trying to warn me of what was to come.

And just like that, for the first time (sober), Sloane Carlisle and David Dobrik were kissing.
